Good work, glad you decided to ditch interior parts rather then not use the good base plates. One thought though - don't mount the lap belt bolt or clips too far back from the seat holes, as it will take away the ability to tighten the lap belt as much as it should be. In my case my guy mounted them to the back of the angle iron seat brackets he made, but it's too far back to tighten up without pulling the weight of the car in the process, and then still not tight enough. To test sit fully back and strap in, when you pull down on the shoulder belts, the cam shouldn't move much from it's position on your lap and should not be loose.

Also take care with the sub belt mounting, i'm sure it's fine as it sits, but if your going to fab anything make sure you look at the CCR or other club rule books to make sure it's within spec/angle/space etc. (can't tell from your pic) that way you don't have to redo it later when/if you get to that level.

Just since the thread title is critique my equipment, i have a question. Why did you pad the roll bar behind you? I cant imagine your helmet contacting any of those points unless you head has falling off. .

Very nice plates BTW. Those should come standard on bolt in roll bars.

I can't imagine it happening either, but what the heck. Cheap enough and should shut any potential whining techs up.

Good answer, works for me! Its funny how wide of a range of padding are in people's cars. It goes from bare minimum to pretty much covering the whole thing. I always just like to hear peoples theory's as to why it's done this way or that way.

You would be surprised how far your body stretches and deforms. Then add equipment failure such as a strap ripping, or seat bolt anchor braking or seat back cracking plus a ton of other opportunities. You will be all over the inside of the car, not to mention your limbs will be all over the place. Go search for some crashes that have an in-car camera on the driver. It is nuts what happens at those G's. There is a reason they install nets inside the car.

In your car, I would even argue that you don't have enough (but you did get the proper stuff). The thing that concerns me is that you removed the trim on the A,B pillar and along the door frame. I'd put those back. They act in the same manner as the dense foam (in fact, the foam rating is based on that of the plastic trim in terms of impact protection).

I was unlucky enough to be in an EVO that hit a wall at 45deg, not very fast (maybe around 30mph), in a setup very similar to yours (Race seats, 6 pt's, R6 neck restraint, roll bar) and the trim was removed. I was very surprised that my helmet hit the part above the door frame. I recall the whack to the side of my head like it was yesterday. You should keep any extra protection that you can get.

Pretty much nobody recommends 4 points. They work by holding you in the seat but they're dangerous since there's nothing to hold the bottom down around your hips, in an accident it will ride up into your ribs. Don't street with any harnesses, for track use go with 5-6 points.

I have the scroth 4 pt harness. Its great for autocross where crashing is not really possible..but I wear the harness and the stock seatbelt for track days.

Like the person said above its just not good enough for track days. Autocross its perfect. DD you wont use them as they are slow and annoying to get in and out of. I just have mine thrown over the side of my seats.

For the street Mitsubishi designed a real nice oem 3 point that works well- use that.
Use a harness for the track only.

if you wanted something to snug you down better, a cg lock works nice. those can be used either on the street or at the track. They are also the cheapest option vs. a harness.

Ive been using the Schroth Autocontrol II for over 10 years (Street & track). Been mounted on the EVO for 4 years as my only harness

It employs the anti-submarine technology & its on an inertia reel for street use

http://www.schrothracing.com/store/T...autocontrol-II

Watch the WMP video showing how it works

My .02. Running a rigid mounted 4 pointer on the street is not right & dangerous. (serious neck whiplash). If you still have your air bags you need to be on an inertial reel

the schroth ASM belts are about the only 4 point still not completely outlawed by most sanctioning bodies. the other is the teamtech jet harness, which has a crotch harness that you wear, so it functions like a 6 point.

i had a long discussion with Joe Grande, the NASA NE tech director about this when i was planning to get a harness setup, although i wound up not due to harness bar options.

I think he's referring to the stock seat belt ie: 3 point from mitusbishi.

5 points: over the shoulders, around the hips, and under your crotch. Not so sure about six points, maybe that's two underneath?
