I just got my Ferrodo DS2500 pads. I wanted to know what lubricant's I should use when I install them. In the Evo How To forums there is a link for some lubricant's, but I can not find them locally. Thanks in advance.

 

I use Permatex Anti-seize Lubricant. It is rated up to 1600 degrees F. The Anti-Seize Lubricant also comes in a Copper formula, which is rated up to 1800 degrees. http://www.permatex.com/products/pro...&item_no=09128

You can probably find it at any Checker Auto, Auto Zone or Pep Boys.

 

Remember to install the shims stuck to the oem pads also

You would not believe what I went through tonight looking for this stuff. I called and drove everywhere. I will have to continue looking tomorrow. I was unsure about getting the non-copper stuff. Now I now it's ok. Thanks

Yeah, I searched high and low and I couldn't find the copper stuff either. I've been using the regular Anti-Seize Lubricant and it works great!

 

are you talking about the metal shims....or the things that are glued to the back of the stock pads that say Brembo on them. because right now, my ferrado's are LOUD

 

I just used some orange stuff I picked up for $1 at autozone. I don't know the name of it, but it seems to do the job. It gets a little baked on at the track but it peels right off.

That looks like the copper spring.

You'll need those too, but also the floating metal shim AND the sticky shim on the back of the pads. If any one of those three things are missing, you're likely to get a lot of noise while braking.

 

I thought I know what I was talking about. That is why i printed out all of the how to section.

 

Ahh, I see now. In the how-to it says the copper things are shims. I don't know the technical term for that part, but it acts like a spring so that's what I call it, lol Sorry for the confusion.

 

DS2500 pads, OE metal shims, scraped OE fiber shims off old pads to reuse, Auto Zone cheap blue lube... no squeal... none.

 

I installed mine yesterday. The only noise I get is a little squeal when coming to a slow stop. It doesn't happen all the time. I did all of the above ^
