AMS LICP Install problems

Guys,

I had bought a AMS LICP but since having it, the U- part of the pipe that goes on the stock hose to IC keeps coming off. The stock one had the two braces but aftermarket doesn't so it is feels more bumps and jerks.Any body having similar issues.

It dosen't come with T-bolt clamps. If it did, there would be a lot of crushed aluminum piping. If you are sure that the clamps are tight enough try and old school trick and spray some hairspray on end of the pipe before putting the coupler back on. Also make sure the pipe end is clean before you do this, any grease and or oil will cause the coupler to slip off easily.

funny you mention that, i tried the hair spray yesterday, the pipe snuggled it better this time and i used the bolt clamps as well. so hopefully that should hold it.

That should work, just fyi I run 40+psi and don't have single T-bolt clamp. Never had a pipe blow off yet.

I run double-clamps when I open track, but I only run about 21psi.

I have the AMS LICP. I had no problems at all however I woul like to suggest you to perhaps install two clamps insteadof just one.

AMS kit supplies a set of clamps but to be honest I think the stockers are stronger.

The last tip is to definately use the proper tool to install and tighten the clamps, you must tighten it very very strong.

Send a pm to rraulston(that is his user id) , he installed mine and he has done a few already..

Good luck!!

Yeah i meant to say clamps..oops. They need to send some real clamps with these kits. Not just AMS but Buschur kits as well.....Let me tell you i bought a IC and it came with the lower pipe and 3 t-bolt clamps for $750 shipped. The core was 12x24x3.5 and fits perfect. I am not giving out free advertising so i wont mention the Co.

same thing happend to my lower pipe 2 weeks after i put it on, came off at the intercooler, know another evo guy in chi-town it happend to also so it's not unique and I could not have tightened that clamp any tighter, has not happed since I re-tightened but...
it can happen with t-clamps also

The chances that it happens with the t-bolt clamps are slim to none....Vendors need to supply the BEST clamps. They are more expensive i know.

you cant use T-bolt clamps on these alluminum pipes.....well you can but 99% of the public will overtighten them and bend the pipe, its almost impossible to do so with standard worm gear clamps. So long as the clamp is tight you shouldnt have a problem. If you are really having a hard time do what cosmo said or run an additional worm gear clamp I would not run T-bolts for fear of crushing that pipe.
