The modified actuator we sell is $175 with your core. The actuator holds 19 psi and is rated at 26 psi which is what I see it hit from a roll in 4th and 5th gear.

a friend of mines hooked me up with his stock actuator for free, which i think is fine for the time being since I will be upgrading the turbo anyways within a few months..

For what it's worth, we will soon be prototyping the Evo 9 actuator to offer for those people with Evo 9 based turbos! (OEM Evo 9 turbo, Buschur 20G-9, etc.)

MIKE will there be any boost taper if you run a blue spring adjusted to 18psi & say u use your manual boost cntr to set boost @ 21psi??

Would it boost to 21psi then drop to like 18psi?? Or just hold steady @ 21psi??

I have a friend who tried one and he told me that the car felt like it spooled later...?

Thanks...

With the blue spring, spool should be just like stock, and with minimal tapering but some minor taper may still exsist.

(spike to 21 PSI will likely only taper to 20 PSI if at all)

The red spring virtually completely eliminates the tapering and again, spool will be like stock.

consider that spool wil also be based on the length and internal diameter of the vacuum line used for whatever boost control is being used. You want the absolute shortest and smallest diameter vacuum line you can fit with where you want to mount a boost controller (or solenoid) and that will fit over the provided ports.

The 9 actuator is different??
I am asking because after reading this thread I was interested in trying a Forge actuator but if I want to run a 20G-9 in the future it would not be prudent to buy one now.

Of course after all the issues I had with the early Diverter valve I had you could offer me one at a really good price to make me a customer again.

The EVO8 actuator will NOT work on the EVO9 turbo. The 20g-9's we are building all come with a new actuator on them.

The boost taper issue. Running high boost on the stock turbo or the 20g's and having boost taper is normal and it is NOT fixable. Yes, you can improve on it but it is not going to be eliminated. The boost tapers as the turbo cannot supply enough air to fill the engine and keep the boost up.

I'm waiting to receive the unit still and it will be sent to Forge in the UK for prototyping. My initial guess is about 3-4 weeks.

It cannot be made to look like the OEM unit, however. Our units are manufactured from billet aluminum, so they will not look like the stamped thin sheet metal OEM pieces. We can offer them in an anodized black finish if you're interested, but that will cost $25 extra.

And David is correct. The tapering will always be present to some extent. But it can be minimized greatly. The turbo is still operating within it's efficiency range, but it's still going to spike and taper to some extent.

Yes it will work with the TME and yes, we are a Forge Direct Stocking Dealer. We have been running the Forge unit from near day one of it's release and have tried many of the spring combos, hat adjustments, rod adjustments and have a few other tips and tricks we can share with our customers. We can also go over the improvements to design that have taken place over the past few weeks and we stock replacement parts for rebuilds in case you wear out a diaphram or need other springs, etc. All replacement parts are free, or we can just swap the unit out for a new one, your call.

We have hit 34.1psi on the stock turbo using this unit logged by Zeitronix and while on the dyno.
