Good stuff Abner!! I am eager for the release of the failsafe from SMC, they already announced, so it is the matter of time.

In addition to the supplied red LED, this trigger can be used to signal the following:
1. an ignition/timing controller such as an MSD timing computer if using an MSD ignition
2. aftermarket engine computer
3. a solenoid such that boost is reduced in a wastegated turbo set-up. ( $39.95 list. See below.)
4. a solenoid to evacuate boost on a supercharged set-up.
The trigger signal can deliver up to 1.5 amps to drive a solenoid or relay.

Part# SI-WS (Wastegate Solenoid Upgrade) $39.95 list
So basically I can instal a SMC or any other evo specific kit for that matter, hook this up, and when it senses < 378cc(ml)/min it will energize the SI-WS solenoid teed B4 the mbc and into the act dropping boost. Its like a domestic version of the DDS3 but comes with the solenoid.

Thanks for the info Slow car, if SMC doesn't release their failsafe addition or if it requires piggyback and ebc, I may have to get this instead.

I'll have to search to see if anyone uses this on Evos

Not too many Evo owners mention them, only found on 300zx, supra, and lancer es cars on EvoM, but I think they sell most of their stuff to the 95 and up gm and ford crowd. They even make one device that reads a GM maf and varies the spray in response to it.

Their products seem to be made by people that know thier stuff, you know - top fuel geezer engineers types.

I need to find out if the product can handle 100% denatured

Abner,

I just got an e-mail on Friday from a friend of mine from the USAF. He knows of a third party Evo owner that has a SMC kit running Methanol and has a DDs3 flow injection failsafe custom installed into his SMC, it this is confirmed the we are talking about a bad *** failsafe system for many SMC owners.

Let me find out a bit more info on that so I can post. I am working on locating the person that actually has it on his car.

Carlos, keep me updated. As of today, I have an active SMC alky injection system running in my MR, although I won't be fully utilizing it until I get tuned next Sunday. Thanks for your write-up. It didn't give me all the details I needed, but it definitely helped get everything done.

The DDS3 is bad ***! Not only you get visual indication that your injectant is flowing/spraying, you can set the SOA, safety operating window - water flow too low(clog), water flow too high(leak somewhere), will trigger a failsafe mechanism Eg boost cutting solenoid, or switch to a less aggresive map if you run an ems capable of using that feature.

Guys, my boost gauge is reading extremely high boost, I was driving today and I gunned on 4th at 40MPH and the boost went all the way pass the 1.5bar kept going clockwise all the way to the beginning of the vacuum reading.

It completly surpassed the blank gap bwteen the 1.5 bar to the 76 vacuum, I think I am boosting 30PSI or maybe more.

I also finished the Evo 9 defi BF imperial gauge with control unit, the Evo 9 boost stock 20psi and rapidly vanishes to 16-17PSI.

Tomorrow I am installing the Defi on my MR and see for the first damn time how much PSI I amputting on stock turbo and Alcohol
