20g-9 + road tune by Al = Happy Camper
Just got tuned by Big Al yesterday. The car pulls like a freight train on crystal meth all the way to redline! I still have to resolve some BOV issues and fiddle w the wastegate actuator arm a little but DAMNNNN !!!! The thing is unreal. Hats off to Al for a hellacious tune!
I think this pretty much covers my mods list:
BR deluxe FMIC
BR upper & lower IC pipes
Forge 1g BOV - recirculating
BR MAF pipe (early model)
BR cone filter
HKS cams - 272/272
ARP head studs
HKS DLI 2 ignition
BR front motor mount
Walbro pump
BR mini battery
SMC alcohol injection- running 100% methanol
BR MBC @ 28psi
BR 3" SS turbo back w/ test pipe & bullet muffler
BR 20g-9 turbo w ported & jetcoated hotside
BR high boost wastegate actuator
BR ported & jetcoated exhaust manifold
Ebay jetcoated O2 housing
SW boost gauge
I'm currently running 93 octane.

Test it w/o meth? Why would I want to do that? I've been running meth for the past year w the stock turbo and I can't think of any reason why I'd want to stop now. I love the stuff.

Ya man it is an awesome thing to be reckoned with.
Al showed me how to use the launch control yesterday and I could still smell clutch on the way home. He said I had too much power for the stock clutch. I agreed wholeheartedly and said I was amazed that it had lasted this long(20,000 miles).
Today I took the car to my mechanic friend, Dennis, who has done the majority of the wrenching on the car, and we resolved the little problems with the car. We replaced the Forge 1g w/ a crushed OEM 1g BOV, tightened the wastegate actuator and beat the new bullet section of my exhaust into a reasonable facsimile of its proper location. It all worked great. So we decided to go to the dragstrip. That was way cool!
1st run:
reaction: .589
60ft. 1.736

2nd run:

60ft. 1.693
E.T. 7.720
M.P.H. 93.131
Then Dennis gave it a try.

60ft. 1.680
E.T. 7.574
M.P.H. 30.206(obviously incorrect. right lane wasn't showing correct mph)
All in all I was happy and decided to leave it at that for the day. I left the stip all proud of myself and happier than a clam at high tide w the car. The 1st time I accelerated away from the stop sign I could feel the turbo spooling away merrily but the car was not moving at the same rate. It seems that in the process of enjoying the incredible amount of new power and testing out the new launch control that I have finally finished off the stock clutch!
Oh well. It's not like its a big surprise or anything. Tomorrow morning I'll just have to order a new Exedy Twin Disc HD and be done w it.
So the RS is parked again. Its back to the 93 Topaz for another week or so.

Holy crap, a 7.57 and hitting over 93mph in the 1/8th means you have 11.7-11.8s waiting for you. My 12.000 was a 7.64 and just under 91mph, and that was with no top-end. With your 20g and 272s, you would probably scream down the back half of the track. Hell, you may trap 118-120mph and do mid 11s, now that I think about it.
Someday soon we will travel to a real 1/4 mile track and see what happens. I'll be working 6 days a week till the end of May and now I've got to sell a 1st born or something to take care of the recently deceased clutch but, fear not, we will hit 11.something-or-other this year. On a 20g.
Man is that thing fun to drive!
