2008 Mitsubishi Lancer ES/DE/GTS and Ralliart [MERGED]

There always seems to be one every now and then. I remember the one and only time I drove the RS-X. I owned an Integra at the time and was looking forward to driving the new one (it's an Integra everywhere else in the world). Anyway, I thought the car handled like crap and was overpriced. That was the end of it...
I know that most EVO owners know why they bought their car... because they know what it's capable of versus other cars in the same price range. I see now that not every EVO owner really knows about cars. It is my opinion that such people are posers and should sell their EVO (to someone who knows what the car really is) and go buy an Acura.
Anyway, I cannot begin to understand why someone who has such a narrow mind could purposefully come on this thread and post such a load of idiotic nonsense... appart if the person in question deliberately wants to start a flame war. If that was the idea behind your comment, you my friend are an idiot (on top of not nowing much about cars).

We are gonna see real soon what this is like. As soon as press are done with one, Mitsu promised we can get our hands on one. Hope soon. The more I hear and read, the more interesting it is.

I think we won't be disapointed, even by the base model. There's a publication ban in effect until January 24th, but I got some first person info (from a source to remain anonymous) and the guy thinks this is the best quality product to have come from Mitsubishi thus far. I can't wait to test drive the GTS and see how it feels compared to the current base models... I know it's not gonna be impressive, but I hear it handles really well for such a low-budget sedan.
Rob, you guys should have a blast modding this one too... keep us posted (once you can actually discuss your progress).
BTW: What do you think about that small 2.0l engine? The stock output is not bad... but I wonder if there's a lot of room for improvement on stock internals. Since you guys won't have a market for a turbo kit for the RA trim level, I'm sure you're already thinking about a turbo kit for that base model...

or rrm can try to be what cobb tuning is to the subaru wrx's. but they'd have to be the first ones to come out with an access port for the new turbo RA. thats just my opinion. also the could come out with some good bolt ons, suspension, etc for the ralliart as well. cobb tuning does that for the sti's and wrx's, and even stuff for the impreza's.
Where the hell do we find all these clowns who know nothing about cars...

I know of one or two other people on here that actually drove an RSX for several months at least. They are simply meant for two different markets. The RA kicks the base RSX's ***. The RSX did feel stiffer and crisper in the corners, but with the progress rear sway bar and some real tires, the RA would feel pretty much the same or better. The RSX interior LOOKS fine, materials is about the same as the RA. Like I said, the leather on the seats is horrible. And it has more creaks and rattles in the interior than the RA.
It was all fun and games until I dropped a valve in the RSX's engine at only 6000rpm (automatic) and not 2 weeks after it got a new head and #1 piston under warranty, it went back on lease with a leaking hatch and broken driver's door lock.
Either car is awesome and both have their pluses and minuses. The RA gives similar performance for 8+ grand less(CAD). That we are even COMPARING the RA to an RSX is rather impressive. When you buy an RSX you're paying for the horrible leather, the flashy coupe body and the Acura symbol. I can see someone *****ing about this post, I'm not talking out my ***, I drove that RSX for at least 5 months.

maybe the base rsx is like that but i drove a type S for a long time the other night and that thing was quite quick. definitely quicker than the RA which i've driven a lot as well. It wasn't stock though it had an organic clutch, changed gearing, cai, and an lsd. some nice tires too. i was really impressed with it. i've never driven a modded RA but i'm sure it could get to type S speed with some mods
as far as looks and style go, the ra is way better

Its possible to have a front mount intercooler and be legal in canada (SRT4), it was just the design of the bumper didn't protect it well enough.

I'm aware of that... but I just wanted to point out that nobody said the new RalliArt would have a FMIC. The nose of the car is not that high... if you already have the engine coolant radiator plus the A/C radiator, there's not that much space left for the FMIC.

The RA might have a sidemount IC, who knows.
