Here is the reply i received from the mfg of Eneos:
"Our 0w-50 is actually a combination of Ester and PAO base. Yes ester is a better base but due to engineering and mechanics, a combination of both along with special additives, makes that total formulation best for heat and oxidation resistance and very low friction.

That’s in consideration of today’s high performance vehicle. We will have an all ester based product in the future..."
having said that it means it is the same as gF-4 mobil 1 0W/50. however, if it is the same oil that the WRC uses, then I'm in

I have a little query.
As per recommended on the obvious logo on the oil cap. Been using 10W-30 Mobil 1.
Car has 10K miles on it.
It is only driven between Spring and Autumn as such what do you recommend?
5W-40 or 0W-50
I am concerned over the oils ability to withstand the high heat of summer especially due to our turbos producing so much heat.
I realised just Mobil 1 isn't synthetic and am debating between going with Greddy, Amsoil or Eneos.

we used the 0w50 in our 500whp shop 9 in 100 degree heat doing time attacks at PIR. the car had no problem at all using the 0w50.

Not sure why people keep saying Mobil 1 is not synthetic. Kudos for making this oil available though.

Well it had been known fact for me at least that Amsoil was always superior to Mobil 1 however recently I came to find out that Mobil 1 is no longer Group IV Synthetic.
They have now, due to the fact that Mobil 1 is just highly refined hydrolocked dino oil, been dropped into Group III. As such not full synthetic.
The other readily available option is to go with German Castrol. Its the European version you can find in Autozone.
Both my eclipses and montero will probably switch to the german castrol. I will switch my evo to eneos however.

Someone please prove this to me. I'm doing some mad googling, but I find nothing to indicate that Mobil 1 10w-30 is anything other than Fully Synthetic Group 4.
