which is hottest - A, B or C?

A = 25cc H2O + 75cc MeOH

B = 50cc H2O + 50cc MeOH

C = 75cc H2O + 25cc MeOH

...i'm guessing B, anyone else?

water = deionized, 18Mohm.cm
MeOH = HPLC grade
type K exposed thermocouple
vessels = styrofoam cups

A = 25cc H2O (28.4C) + 75cc MeOH (23.4C) -> 33.2C

B = 50cc H2O (28.5C) + 50cc MeOH (23.4C) ->36.6C

C = 75cc H2O (28.5C) + 25cc MeOH (23.5C) -> 35.1C

i win

Hottest probably the molar equivalent of DI water and anhydrous MeOH

Ever added water to a solution of NaOH? Now that get's hot! Too hot and you'll have a gieser of caustic lye in your face
