Fan Controller

Hi all,

My fan controller has gone kaput twice now in 37K miles.
Anyone know if this is or has been a known problem?

recalled, call the dealer.
I've gone through 2 of them already, they're only 50$ though. The first one was fixed on recall, the second one i replaced myself because it was outside the 12 month or 12,000 mile parts warranty (only if installed by mitsu).

Yours needs to be replaced then. The fan shouldn't come on until the car is up to temp.

There is in fact a recall on Lancer, and Evo fan controllers. All you have to do is call your local dealer, give them your vin, and they can see if your car falls under the recall.

Or, if you do not like your like local dealership, like most people I talk to on here, shoot me your vin, and I can gladly check for you.

I'll vouch for Spins4, he hooked me up with my fan controller, even checked my VIN for the recall too.
I've met him in person and have dealt with him over the phone, great outgoing guy.
BTW,
You fan definitely shouldn't be on when you just start up your car. You've having the same problems I did, mines was going on/off in overkill mode and even dropping the idles to 500 rpm's...

mine was going on/off all the time, and revving when the car was stationary or engine off etc. was driving me nuts and sounded embarrassing so I took it to the dealer and they replaced it under warranty

Bump an old thread.
My fan is staying on now and going stupid.
Anyone know the part number of the fan controller, and where it is located? I plan on just buying the part and replace it myself.

Well the part No. I knew was 1355A053 (updated with the new part no.), but that might be the older one which was recalled....

FYI
The fan controller box is Mitsubishi part number 1355A053. Picked it up from the dealer for about $50.
Should be easy to install....couple of bolts and 3 wire harnesses.
I am beyond the 3/36 warranty, that's why I just bought the part.

Yea the apparently there are 3 different part no, I believe the one Eclipse2Lancer gave was the most recent one, I remember seeing A0 in it when I was looking for mines. Install is easy as pie.. Just don't do it when your engine is hot...
