I know that you guys are getting a lot of questions, but if you have a moment...
1. Is this a privatedealership or Mitsu North America that is letting you throw a few things on?
2. Will you get to keep (or maybe even buy) the MR or is it going back to them?
3. If you are able to keep it will you be stepping up the output? If so hopefully a bit at a time so we can see what happens although I would not like to see it happen at your expense.
If Mitsu NA is letting them play then you could look at this one of two ways, either they are interested in letting a few things fly, or they want to see what it looks like when one has been modified to know what a dead SST looks like so they can let the dealers know what to look for to refuse warranty work. I would hope that this is not the case, but I am a pessimist when it comes to these things.
On a side not I would not be suprised at all to see Mitsubishi offer the MR seats, or similar, as an option on the 09 X's. There is money to be made by offering a leather package so why not, it would undoubtably be a hot seller.
This is pretty cool though having a big name shop playing with a MR, just like evryone else I want to see what happens, and pessimism aside I REALLY hope that it works out well.

This was all done and Mitsubishi North America. We are not keeping the MR just for testing.
I don't think warranty issues had anything to do with this, I really think Mitsu just wanted to see what we could do with the car with a few bolt ons. I think they are secretly power hungry as well LOL

^Dang, well I hate to be extremely forward. But I'm sure there are tons of people like myself on these forums who are you waiting for you (AMS) to get an X MR and mod it until it breaks, that way we all know what not to do.
It sounds like a jackass comment, but that's why most stay tuned, we need to know what to do and what not to do.
LEAD THE WAY!!!!

Oh and for all you MR haters, no I don't want the manual GSR even if it has a "stronger" transmission.
We're on the road back from California! Just a quick check in from the road and to drop some more info. The parts we installed on the MR make about another 50-60 crank horsepower on a GSR. Look at the step by step dyno tests that we posted on the GSR and from the seat of the pants feel the MR is responding just the same. The car feels fast, and it helps that the turbo is on full boost during shifts!
I got a chance to drive the new Lexus ISF wtih 416hp and it's 5.0L V8 on this trip and i don't think it was much faster if not the same as the pumped up MR. Even though I'm a die hard stick shift fan I'm impressed with the DCSST transmission. In Normal mode, it drives and shifts very civil, very similiar shift logic to a regular automatic transmission. The one major difference is that there is no torque converter slip and a standing start feels like some ghost force is activating a clutch for you. Put it in Sport mode and the shifts hold out a bit longer, quicken up, and it rev-matches during the automatic downshifts. You can always take over shifting duties by putting the selector in the manual gate and clicking it forward and back, or use the paddle shifters. You can put it in 6th gear at 1500rpm and lug away at 1500rpm if you wish.
Hold the brake down and push the SST shift mode selector mode up for a few seconds you'll be in Super Sport mode. If left to shift on it's own the revs always stay above 4500rpm and the shift happen VERY fast. I'm not positive but I think they take 200 milliseconds. Of course you can stay in manual mode with the paddle shifters and do all the work yourself to keep the revs down but stay with the ultra quick shift points. I really like how it rev matches the downshifts for you, very cool!
That's about it for now, time to hit the road again and we'll have more news when we get home! Thanks
