Aquamist HFS-1, GM BCS, and Tephra v5: together at last!
Its basically the same setup as the AEM Alt-Map Harness so if you purchase the AEM harness and add that its for the zeitronix/aquamist combo I will know its for you. This weekend I'll add the new harness to the order list.
I was thinking of going with the Aquamist/Zietronix harness, but I thought that might make things a bit complicated. I notice that my ZAVT warning box seems to go off eronisouly every once in a while. Its not often but it gives a bit randomly sometimes. Maybe I just need to play with my triggers a bit more. I didn't want it switching maps though randomly though.
In fact I am thinking of removing the ZAVT all together, its not that I don't like it, but I think its redundant at this point. With the DDS3 and the alt map patch/CEL flash, I think that really covers you. I suppose its good to always have more failsafes but I don't think it needed with the newest Tephra patch.

There are 2 ways to use ECU controlled boost. The first is 'LOAD based' boost targeting and the second is actual 'MAP Sensor based' (aka boost based). The second option requires a JDM Map sensor which replaces the stock MAP sensor. The ECU trys to obtain the target boost levels which is much better than the load based boost control.
The 3-port setup is about $45 shipped and you can get a JDM Map sensor for around $139.
I've been doing more reading too... I think I may order the tactrix 3 port boost control solenoid just for ease of installation even though the cost is much higher.
On the tuning side I'm assuming LOAD based boost is done exactly like the factory boost controller would have been setup on my 03? Once I have this working I'll go the JDM Map route and possibly even alky again
Thanks for the help! I realize this is a bit OT

You should consider using a MAC solenoid for boost control instead of the GM solenoid. With the pigtail included in the price, the MAC solenoid is slightly cheaper than the GM solenoid and it is much higher quality. It has screw on fitting and a variety of connectors you can purchase it with.
I used a GM solenoid on my Subaru years back and had one fail on me. I have been using the MAC valve on my evo now for boost control for about 6 months without any problem.

Isn't the mac valve just an on/off bypass though? I thought you can only have it set to wastegate pressure when its on? Who wants to have their "pump gas only" maps to be at wastegate pressure?ick.
Jamie,
It would be nice of you can write something such as "HOW TO" get the ALT=MAP from scratch for a beginner. Some one know nothing above ECU flash etc.
I am one on those people who hav eno idea how this can be inplemented. I knwo that you need to donwload the Ecuflash programme and install it into lap top. ROM ID etc is complele foreign to me, how and where to find it etc ...
Since this thread is stickyed, it is a good place to introduce it a to all new readers.
