Transporting tires with autopower rollcage

Until now I used to take my tires in the rear, two on the rear seat and two in the foot wells.

Looking at this picture I'm wondering if I'll be able to get the tires in there. One option might be to cut the diagonal bar that goes across the hole between the trunk and the passenger compartment so I can slide the tires in that way. But that's probably not legal for most clubs (NASA, SCCA) etc.

If I tilt down the passenger seat I might be able to slide them in that way

I'm sure a lot of you guys have been here before. What's the verdict?

You've got 2 options
1) Remove the passenger seat. Then you can load tires into the back seat as needed.
2) Modify your side-bar.

I could've sworn I had seen that before, probably one of your previous posts.

I'm assuming there's a little play in there because of the two cuts in the tubing. Any concern if that was to take load?

Yeah, I posted them in some Autopower thread somewhere's before.

No, there's no concern. I unfortunately tested it out back in 2008 when I had a pretty serious 'off' with some frontal impact. The harnesses I have attached to the rollbar kept me all safe and good. Airbags deployed obviously but I never even came in contact with them.

I think it's more important to reinforce the rollbar where it bolts into the floor. I've got extra surface area both below and above to bolt to. I don't have any specific pics, but here's one I found looking down where it bolts:

Good idea. It almost seems like the NASA/SCCA focused all of their attention on just the tube size and not the mounting plates when they made the requirements. We've all see that photograph of the flipped mustang with cage puncturing through the floor.

Yeah that's the alternative. Except there's only one guy in the world who makes a trailer hitch for the Evo

I did a lot of research a few months back and found a nice hitch for my tire trailer. It's not from that guy. 10 min install, good fit, well built, no mods to the bumper, $119 shipped. They have a few left, ask for Chris, cab@slowboyracing.com.

There has been more than one. Vishnu did it back on the OG Onelap car. AMS also did it for their Onelap car, and some dude here in the fab section. That's 3. You could be 4!

Fantastic! Do you have any pictures of it? I need a hitch so I can hook up a bike rack. As for using a trailer, I think there are more disadvantages than advantages.

1. Cannot use parkways
2. Higher tolls
3. Less security if parked overnight at a shady motel for track days
4. Garage won't fit trailer, so I'll need to leave it outside

Phone pic from slowboy, looks better in person, fits just under the bumper plastic.

It's actually pretty easy to store the small HF tralier...probably takes up about a 3x5 space in the garage; just lean it against the wall. I even had mine stored in a little apartment style garage when I was in temporary housing during my move.

It was pretty easy to lock down the tralier and tires, but is someone wants something, they'll get it anyway (just stay away from shady hotels)
