Thinking about buying my first evo

I am thinking about buying an evo in the next few months. I just want some info about them like common problems and possible reliability issues.

I was also wondering if I can up the boost a few psi and just get a reflash and not a full tune. Im not looking to get to crazy as soon as I get it so I was thinking about doing exhaust manifold, turbo back, hks mushroom air filter, boost controller, and turbo timer. The last 4g63 I worked on was in my friends eclipse and it was always breaking. I think im a little hesitant because of that. Any info you guys can provide is appreciated.

Please check out the newbie section. Evo viii or ix? Reliability is decent if you don't do redline clutch drops or shift past 7K. Stock block will support 400-500 whp. There are much better intakes out there such as Amsoil, Perrin, Buschur. Turbo timers are not really needed.

Yeah, check out the newbie section. Lots of good info there. Good luck on your hunt for the right car.

Before joining EvoM and buying my first Evo in June of 06, I spent weeks searching the site, reading and searching again. I'd suggest the same for others.

OP, please understand that many of us have answered the same questions over and over, and there's little interest in doing it again. As such, you're likely to get replies from folks who may not be as familiar with the platform. Therefore, it is in your best interest to search for comments from experienced Evo drivers who normally would not respond to this thread Good luck.
