Getting the AEM EMS - Questions

I'm purchasing this unit in the next week. I was wondering what your thoughts were based on my comments below? By the way, David Buschur will be tuning the unit.

- I don't have a lap top
- I don't want to worry about messing with it once it's installed
- Will the unit need fine tuning during the winter or summer months
- With a good tune, is it fairly safe to say that I won't have any issues - I don't abuse the car except at the track and that's rare anyway.
- I do know the start up is a little longer then normal.

I'm the kind of person who likes to get things installed and forget about them. The only thing I have right now that needs attention is the alky kit (refill about once a month). < Yes, I baby the car....

What would your feedback be before purchasing this unit?

Thanks for your feedback!

Anyone not too busy? I'd really appreciate it! Any other feedback would be great too.

if u do not wish to tune it or at least play around with yr pc why get the AEM EMS? its not worth the money for just getting rid of the MAF and run speed density.

No u do not need to tune it when the weather change, its better off spending the money else where.

I'd say go for it if you are looking to get a bigger turbo in the future and are looking for 500+ AWHP...

Another thing is get the AEM as long as you have a good competent tuner in your area.

Well, I've spent quite a bit already on all the bolt ons, cams, and a larger turbo (20g-9) but I'm only dynoing 314/308 on Buschur's dyno. Not bad but expected more with whats done. (I think I had a weak EVO to start) And, my best time so far at the track is a 12.3 @ 112. I'd sure like to get into the 11's!

I don't expect 500+ HP right now but I'm hoping with just this I could gain at least 30whp with a Buschur tune. I'm hoping this is realistic as I think we could up the boost a bit from maybe 26.5 to 28/29? Also, my taper is falling from 26.5 to about 21 or so. I think I may need a new BOV or some adjusting. And, with the tune, we could lean it out a bit because she's pretty rich right now (safe tune).

I hope for the money I'll pick up something close to this. David didn't give me a # but he did say he would be surprised if we didn't pick up a good bit.
Even so, I'll be ready for a larger turbo down the line.

Thanks for the feedback!

Also, I'm just north of Cincinnati so Buschur Racing is about 3 hours from me. If I have any issues I could always run it up there for help! I trust David Buschur's work! You just have to trust someone with an 8 second EVO tuned by him!

26.5psi on pump gas? Are you nuts? Hopefully that's a spike down low somewhere. You really shouldn't be going much over 25 on pump gas.

There's no way you're running 28/29 without alcohol or meth. The AEM is good, but physics wins every time.

Thanks for the clarification Onefast4dr. Yep, alky at 26.5 tapering to about 21/22. I know my taper is pretty high so going to get that looked at.

Thanks,
Mike
