AIT sensor question...
Ackerson, I think if you read what I just wrote above you will find that I am pretty dead on. I went and read the link you put up. Very good information in there. But if you look at the spread sheet you are going to find that what I am saying is correct.
Take the 68 degree F example he has posted in the spread sheet. I said above in extreme cold/hot it is important. For example a 18 degree increase in temps requires a correction of -3%. A drop of 18 degrees requires a 3% increase in fuel. If you tune is on the money a 3% increase is going to be a fairly minor adjustment and depending on your mic/bit setting only result in a few tenths of an air fuel point.
This takes me to the extreme ends of things. It is important, just like I said when it get cold to keep from burning up some parts. On the other end of the scale when it is extremely hot I do not want to pull fuel out of the car to keep the AFR's where I had them. I'd much rather let the car run a little on the rich side if my intake air temps were over 150 degrees.
It is easy to see that if you tuned the car at the example of 68 degrees that when you reached -40 (most of us will never ever see that temp) the car requiring an extra 25% fuel would cause problems if you didn't use the air temp correction.
This is all in line with the post I made, don't you agree?

Spaceball, you do actually need it, but I don't think it is quite as important as it is made out by some....the biggest problem is a large tempurature drop from where the car was tuned.
If you were someone who tuned and used 02 feeback at all times (which I do not) you would probably have your 02 feedback set up with enough positive and negative correction in it to save yourself.....just hope you 02 sensor doesn't fail

I think before you call people haters you should take the time to find out who you are talking about. You don't know me, you don't know Brian, and you don't know Dave. As far as you know we could all be talking out our asses. If I were you I'd just call AEM and ask for Henry, he'll give you the details of what you need to know.
Ackerson, if i remove my AIT will my car run, YES it will automatically go to a failsafe mode, so then is it NESSARY, NO. Same thing with your coolant sensor would the car run without maybe so is it nessary NO. If you remove the MAF sensor on a stock car will it run yes, will it run well maybe not. Would i ever recommend some one to not run a AIT, NO.
"What does it do?" was the question originally asked. For some people that maybe only drag race there cars on nice 75 degree days would an AIT have any affect on performance or driveabilty, No. David answered that.
Im sorry that i hurt your feelings and called you a hater, and i don't know you or Brian, in no way do i.
