Bad idle... please help

Ok here's my problem. My car will only hold idle for about 30 seconds to a minute and the whole time its just bouncing all over the place never steady at all. Im pretty new to the aem software so any help would be awesome.

Did you call ams and let them know your issue?

Ok so I called ams and they told me to check the plugs, wires, compression, and do a boost leak test. Im my mind it would make sense if the plugs were bad

Boost leak test is always a good Idea when dealing with idle surge problems. Do you have a WB o2? If you'd like me to look at your base Cal file, Email it to me.

I'm interested to find out too. My friend and I are having similar problems with a 300z with the AEM, but only thing is the idle surges no stalling.

if you car ran fine before the clutch job, then went to **** afterwards, chances are something isnt hooked back up or you have a boost leak.

here's the deal, the oem ecu is awesome, it's software is more catered to idling & streetability vs. the aem.

I gaurantee there is way more code for idle within the oem ecu than there is in the aem....

oem ecu idle settings will work on ~75% of all evo's with similar mods.......

aem ecu idle settings will work on ~5% of all evo's with similar mods.......

my car idles great, starts fine....somttimes, but remeber, the aem ecu is geared towrds WOT performance....

so some tinkering is required, especailly since the air temps have been changing lately.

do you have any logged data of your idle parameters? if not, people cannot help you as you would like to be helped.

do you own a pc & can connect to your car? dont laugh, there have ben people who posted on this forum claiming they cant do 1 or both!!

if you can do both items mentioned above, pm me your email address, i will send you a template to have open when logging onto your pc( F6). save this data, send me your cal file & logged data & I will try to help.

later-aby

On my old 240 i had problems with idle. If you've got a wideband you can set it up to help adjust a/f while at idle (below a specific load or RPM level) I think it's on the o2 sensor setup menu. It helped mine a lot. If i remember right you can set how much the EMS can compensate based on O2 readings. I set mine up pretty high for idle situations sense it's not likely that you'll melt your motor at idle.

Also start a log as soon as you start the car and see what happens to A/F during idle. it might give you some clues as to what's going on.

EMS dont throw codes. Your stock ECU is not there anymore...so, no OBD2.
