high sporadic idle and "hanging" rpm..

I just installed my EMS in my IX and am having two problems. Both of which only happen occasionally

The first is that at idle, it will rev and old at ~3K rpm. Meaning that on startup it will run up to 3K, or if i blip the throttle it will hold the idle to whatever the highest rpm it hits.

The second thing (and this might be related), is that it will take a few seconds (3-4 usually) to come back down to an idle point if I blip the throttle or come off of the gas/clutch at a high rpm point.

Any ideas??

New EMS, just the base calibration is on it.

you need to establish a decent idle % vs. target table.

then you can plug in most anyones decent idle settings.

here is a screen shot of my current cal file idle settings.

my car is a dd & these settings work for me. i am certain you may get 20 different examples & they may all work too.

just refer to the aem 217 page pdf & learn

No cams. The car is 100% stock mechanically.

But i have a 3076R i want to install eventually - just want to make sure this is perfect before i start messing with it.

Also i'm using the AEM to run my AiM dash.

I had this problem as well on an 8, but the tuner said that he needed to go directly into the Intake manifold with the map sensor. After they installed directly into the manifold the problem went away.

Awesome! yes, i will most definitely try your beer-induced tune!

Actually, i will give it a try this weekend as it looked mostly like good ideas. I'm going to spend some time getting it to run properly as i've got a lot to do with it.

hahaha If it doesnt work. Highlight the entire Idle% vs Target table. Right click. Change. -2%. Try that a couple times. See if you make head way

Where else would you get Manifold Absolute Pressure if not from the manifold?

They went off of the same place as the boost gauge and T'd it off! Now it is using Buschur's adapter directly into the manifold, no more problem!!!!
