need some help...
today my wideband gauge started acting weird. everything is normal at startup and is good for a bout a minute at idle but then it starts going backing and forth from a number reading (ex:13.4) then to (----). it even does it when im driving, cruising at partial throttle and at WOT.
does anyone know what this means? ive had the aem ugeo for about 3yrs now. could the sensor finally be going out?

thanks

^the only time my wideband shows ---- is when my foot is off the throttle, so I'm guessing your sensor is going out, assuming it isn't your wideband of course.

That damn leaded fuel, mount your sensor toward the end of your downpipe and run E85/pump gas and your wideband issues will dissapear I think I went through 3 or 4 widebands over a 3 year period with my sensor mounted towards the back of the downpipe from leaded fuel alone. This was VERY occassional use too, like only drag strip days. I actually ran faster with E85 anyway. I think my best with C16 was 11.3 @ 125 because I was too wussy to turn up the timing.

Leaded fuel is quick killer of any oxygen sensor. If you run outside of the track you'll kill your sensor on an average of 200-300 miles.

As far as the sensor being dead, usually they will hold at one afr and not move at all rpm and load levels. The cutting out is less likely but still a possibility unless theres a wiring problem somewhere down the line.

I just replaced mine about three weeks ago.

The symptoms were as follows:

1.After starting the car for the first time, the readout would stay at 16 for about 2-3 minutes until getting heated up and eventually reading 14.7.
2. When going WOT, the sensor would act as normal and go to ~11.3, and then creep back up to 15 towards the end of the pull. The first time that happened I almost pooped my pants.

I've been on that O2 sensor since buying the car back in July. So it lasted 6 months at least, maybe longer because the previous owner said he hadn't replaced it in a while. That is good enough for me. Just an FYI, the O2 sensor is mounted about 12-16" up from the test pipe. I use the NGK AFX Powerdex with a Bosch LSU wideband with regular 93 octane gas.

*edit* I also wanted to note that there was absolutely no decrease in drive ability or how the car ran in any way that I could notice. But, I didn't do any WOT pulls till the new one was in.

I've been having issues with mine last fall. I was out doing some tuning, and on a set of back to back pulls, same fuel and such. The A/F jumped. Looking at data, at roughly the same rpm load ect. had same pulse width and all the reading was from 12.2 to 10.4. Then as we dug more into it, the reading on the actual gauge was different then what was on my screen in the AEM softwear.

This has me worried, what happend and what readings are turstworthy. Already Tried new sensor. Seriously concidering switching to a different wideband. I keep hearing about the AFX, but I really dont like having that box to try to mount I was very happy with the gauge style unit....

sorry to bring this back from the dead. would a car suddenly idiling at 9.9 - 11.1 be a probability that the o2 sensor is going out? nothing changed on the car except for a small boost leak being tightened up
