Boost Comp Tuning Vs Table Tuning
Boost Comp Tuning Vs Table Tuning
Just seeing how you guys prefer tuning your evos... I come from honda roots where we are boost comp junkies
So currently on my hta86 IX I put together a hybrid boost comp map... I am feeling like its a bit overkill. The .cal comes with preset boost comp, I just changed it a bit, and ya its making dialing in the fuel table a bit complicated.
Who uses what method, and why? (EVO) or whatever else you tune for that matter
Cheers Mates

If dialing in the fuel table is hard with boost comp maybe your missing a step when setting it up?
Im new to tuning the AEM so i cant offer alot of info but the reason why i choose boost comp map is just simply the ease of tuning fuel while in boost and not referring to my logs more than 100x in a session or trying to get the car into a certain cell or path to make sure the tune is spot on.
I set up my boost comp table and it is REALLY simple to do and tuning is a breeze. I have it setup so i change anything in vacuum or cruise conditions and boost comp does nothing pretty much a hybrid map i guess but when your in boost it adds fuel as boost increases. When you get the basic setup complete all is left is to turn your boost up and thats it! no need to retune all the cells for more boost. its a real awesome tuning technique at least in my opinion.
I will attach a website were it goes through with how to set it up and also it might help explain things for you a little better.

First off you should tune your car however you fell comfortable. I have done it both ways. I started with the Table Tuning, and I was able to make good power and get a decent tune. I have found that my life is much easier running in Boost Comp Hybrid.
The most important things for my tune are the AIT Correction and setting up really good O2 Feedback.
With those you will have a very good Boost Comp Setup. You can also accomplish the same with table mapping.

I agree with the above: whichever you feel most comfortable with.
The end result is the same. Even if you use the boost comp map, you may still end up making changes to the base table to compensate for changing VE through the load range, but that is real fine tuning stuff.
I personally would rather change the base table, but thats a matter of preference.
Happy tuning!
