No Ignition Issues, 520 hp on a Stock Motor
Actually depending on the specific gravity of the fuel you'll need less volume of gas to run the same A/F ratio, so you can make more horsepower on a fuel with a higher specific gravity. I'm still not maxing out the 780cc/min injectors in our car at 550whp. BTW I'm using 76 brand 118pro stock race gas in my high boost testing.

The fact that you will have race gas, will help you run leaner, but not for long. For the 500whp + you will definitely nee dthe 850cc

"well over 500whp"(him) is close to 550whp(you)
He has 660cc, you have 780cc. 15% difference.
His will be maxxed out...
Yes the 660s are at 91% duty with the base pressure at 55PSI. I'm saying it will make over 550, but yes they will be maxed out. With the EMS you should run bigger than 780cc actually, since there isn't much downside to having big injectors. I went to 850cc injectors and turned the base presure down to 43PSI and they will still be pretty well maxed out on pump gas. No problem with race gas of course, but I run mostly pump gas.

Personally I really hate it, but it does look cool!
If you had a real dogbox tranny and a hydraulically actuated clutch the sequential shifter would be badass. With the stock tranny and clutch layout it is real hard to use. You still have to use the clutch if you want the tranny to live, and the sequential shifter grinds gears a lot due to the engine moving around from load and the shift cable orientation changing.

Hey Mike, finally got around to looking at those EMS data logs from your site. What voltage on the knock sensor actually corresponds to knock? Looks like you have lots of activity on the sensor from around 6000 RPM until the end of each pull, but ignition timming keeps going up. I was wondering if that is because this isn't really knock or do you not use the built in ignition retard function for knock control with your setup?
Just wondering,
Keith

May someone please send me a map for the AEM EMS for an EVO with the Greddy T-67 Turbo Kit to: tomeievo7@hotmail.com
Thanx,

And you have to specify your injector size etc...

i was wondering the same thing..
The knock control was disabled for those dyno pulls. In general you need to have the knock control disabled while tuning, then turn it on afterwards to cover a bad batch of fuel or something.
If you look at the .CAL file the knock sensor noise table is set, so you can see what the noise threshold would be if the knock control was enabled.

we all understand the process of setting up the knock tables... but i want to know why their engine had so much noise in the upper rpms. it looks like knock to me, but it may just be a noisy engine. when you tune it you want to make sure you dont have any knock.. .then setup the knock control .. you want to make sure you tune it so that knock control never has to come in.
Right, I agree completely. The logs are showing real knock. They are a good example of what real knock looks like on the EVO. Note how the noise is fairly linear and then gets all spiky and then is just all noise... Bad knock...
