My day on SLEX

I was on my way to a meeting in Makati when I see tailing behind me a silver VIII. So I thought to myself "This is cool. Another VIII near my office". So I hit the throttle and off I go. I then look again in my rear window and there he is still behind me. I managed to loose him on twisting off ramp onto SLEX but he managed to catch up when I got snagged by noontime traffic.

This is where it starts getting interesting. We snaked from one free slot to another. I always made a point to signal where I'm going and he kept on shadowing me. When he saw an opening near Skyway he took it. Again he got snagged while I stuck to the Skyway lane til I hit the onramp. Once cleared of mini vans I blasted my way til the Skyway Tollplaza A. I think I was doing about 140-145mph along this span. Things grinded to a halt when the car before me had no balance in his e-pass. What a bummer I was thinking. I wouldnt be able to catch up.

When it was clear I put on the hazard and the car on reverse and transferred to the free tollgate. Once cleared I punched it and zoomed to the outermost lane cause the middle was occupied by a black smoking spewing bus. I noticed that the silver VIII was doing a slow roll forward so I continued on my way. This is where things get interesting. I was fast approaching 150mph and going 160mph when I hit the apex of the northbound Skyway. It is the first and only time I've reached 257kph on the road. What a ****ing rush! What a stupid thing to do too! But boy, was it fun. The whole time I was hearing the silver VIII's blow off valve whisteling behind me.

I ultimately started slowing down when I was approaching the Mile Long offramp. I didnt mind the silver VIII get ahead off me when we went down. I even blinked him a couple of times to acknowledge him and he treated me with flames from his tail pipe.

While we were waiting for the Mile Long intersection to turn green I rolled down my window and say "Hi" to the fellow. Lo and behold it was the same white guy I saw before in ATC. We talked shop for a few seconds. He mentioned his straight exhaust, headers, blow off valve and I noticed his drilled brake disks. He in turn asked me what I placed in my ride. I said "It's still stock".

When the light turned green he U turned back to the Skyway and I went off to my meeting making it at 1245PM.

To be fair with the guy I dont think he had much experience on our roads. If he did he probably would have beaten me.

What I found a bit amusing is the fact he got his VIII from a local Mitsubishi dealer. If you soup up your car dont get it through more expensive authorized channels.

Now I remember why I hate/love my car.

I cheated a bit. He didnt get 100 meter running start and the bus was hiding my approach.

To give you guys an idea where the last half my race started and ended look at the photo below

Look at the bottom middle. You'll see a small orange-ish coloured billboard. To the right of that is the Tollplaza A (not shown). We went straight and moved left on the bend and continued until we hit the intersection near the horizon of the shot. That's where I did 160mph.

That's amazing. I wish I was in your car for the ride too.

Just stay safe.

I talked to a fellow who bought his VIII from Mitsu a few weeks ago (will have pics of his ride by tomorrow) and he said they sold it to him for PHP2.5M or USD44,420.75275. I also checked the instrument cluster and it's a USDM model. I think you can save on import duties if you report your car as used/surplus/pre-owned. You got the docs naman to prove it's "old" na diba? I hear balikbayans have perks when they come home. Anyway dude naka sink-in cost ka na. Just pay a bit more for customs.

Sir, suggestion lang. U dont have to send urs home. U can purchase an Evo 8 here, but you even have more varieties. Choices of either JDM or USDM Evo 8s RS or MRs, or if you want older generations, go for an Evo 6 TME, or the meanest looking Evo of all time, the Evo 5 RS2.

Maraming Evo 5 dito. Sikat ka pa pag nalaman ng taga Tate na naka Evo 5 ka dito. Iwan mo nalang yun Evo 8 mo diyan
