Some questions regarding the EVO
Hi there everyone, I would like to ask some questions to those who own an evo here in particular to fellow Filipinos. I have never rode or driven an evo before so I am curious to know how does it feel to ride in an evo at speeds of about 160 kmh? Does riding on the evo have the same quality or feel as say when you are riding on a regular lancer 1.6 liter or is there a noticable upmarket feel in the evo compared to a normal lancer? Are there big rattles in the cabin while going at the speed of 160kmh or is it more stable at high speeds compared to a regular econobox jap car?
Good question. I'm not a fellow Filipino, but I can tell you about the Lancer.
Most of my experience is on the MR, but from what I can tell there's not a terrible lot of difference.
Driving an Evolution is NOT like driving an econobox, it's not like driving a civic . . . hell, it's not even like driving a Mercedes AMG. There's only one other car out there that drives like the Evolution, and that's the STi. It is absolutely stupid fast, breaks like it hit an invisible wall, and corners like it's in a cartoon. At 110mph the car feels like it's going 50 or so. It's rediculous. It's not a car to feel really fast (except in turns). Eclipses feel like they're going 60 at 60. Mustangs, 60 at 40. The Evo VIII is retarded, and should be treated as such, because the first time you take that car out, you feel retarded too. You can enter (don't take this as what I am saying to do is a good idea, do it at a track or in the desert where there's a 3 mile runoff or something, it's just the fact that the car can do it) a turn at seemingly impossible speeds and the car just goes. It's astonishing. If you've never been in one, go steal one (just kidding).
Now I've never driven a Ferarri, or a Lamborghini, or a Saleen S7 or Koenigsegg CCR before, and I'm sure they are more fun to drive. But I have driven M3s, S60Rs, G35s and other cars in this price range. Nothing compares, simply nothing compares. Nothing prepares you for the first time you bury the throttle in this car around a gentle bend.

You can't believe it until you do it, so go do it.

evo
Thanks for sharing your experiences guys!
I am a huge evo fan, i have read about it from various magazines and the evo always does well in tests and comparisons they do . I really don't have doubts about the performance of the evo, but I sometimes worry about its stability and refinement at high speeds since some of my ignorant friends who don't have any idea about an evo always
try to tell me that the evo may be fast but at high speeds it might shake and rattle like a 1.6L lancer or econobox car. Well reading about your personal experiences with the evo, I think there is no need for me to doubt the stability of the EVO anymore! EVO rules!

i have an SIr there, and yes it is scary to drive it more than 200kph. my evo here is very stable at >150mph. just gave me the confidence to go on but i stopped. nakakatakot eh.
The Lancer is terrifying at speeds over 110 mph. The reason isn't that it's shaky, the reason it's scarey is because it isn't shaky. It doesn't even flinch. No matter what you do in the car, it is the most confident I've ever experienced. It's insane. It's like being in cartoon.
yeah 160 km/h on my reg lancer... pretty slow..but 160 mph is damn fast... riding on evo and driving is awesome..well i never drove one before..I was just pretendin on the dealer...
