south korea evos?

I'm staying out here near camp humphrey's and was wondering if there was anyone from evom living in south korea with an evo. I've been here for a week now and haven't found any sign that there are any around . If anyone has one around I would love to see it and go out for a beer because I'm interested on seeing what kind of seen there is out here .

haha, im from korea, we don't have evo's in korea >_<. im actually going to the korean army in a couple of years and im planning to ship my evo out there, that way i got the coolest car on the road. for the most part any imports such as honda, toyota, mitsu, benz, bmw, we are talking tons more for taxes and cost overall, so not many evos if not any

I shipped my evo out of about 5 month ago. I was there for about 21 months and while I was there I only seen 2 other evos. Everywhere I drove people just stopped and stared or gave me the thumbs up. Not too many Koreans knew what the car was. I even had 2 people make offers of $45k for it but SOFA law requires the car to be in country for 2 years before it could be sold to a Korean national.

wow, thats pretty disapointing. To bad you were'nt able to sell the car for 45 g's that's almost two used evo's back in the states. I can't believe being so close to Japan that there are very little jdm cars here. It's kinda sad when the tiburon's start looking like a nice car!

they have suped up tiburons in korea that hyndai comes out w/ from factory, there's a basemodel with a turbo pushin around 200+ and a v6 pushin over 300, supposed to beat g35 and 350z. they are coming out with those models in the us next year, it's called genesis and genesis coupe. that's pretty much the main sports cars they got down there along with kia and daewooo unless ur filthy rich and those guys drive whatever they want to import haha

If you go to my350z.com under the Asian section, a buddy in Itaewon and one stationed @ Humphreys and I are getting together Monday for possibly a cruise or food & drinks. You're more than welcome to come. We all have seen some EVO's here, a white and blue X are in Seoul Mitsu in gangnam. Also spotted a Red evo XVIII or IX with APR decals and was VERY sick looking...however I was inside eating dinner and didn't get to snap some pics. Check out the forum if you are free Monday to meet up!

one of my friends from camp humphreys came up to seoul on monday and we spend the day in itaewon and gangnam...i know its kind've a long bus ride, but he says he takes it everyweekend to come to seoul bc theres not much to do @ humphreys. we say some of the exotic car dealerships and then met up with the owners of www.g-lux.co.kr. he had just finished putting in a ecu and tubi exhaust on his mansory kitted bentley gt. he then asked if we wanted to go to the basement to check out some other cars...a mansory vanquish with the meanest sounding tubi i've heard was there as well as a LP640 with tubo exhaust. he also ones #10 out of 50 of the full lorinser converted SL. infact he saw it last year at the geneva auto show and was so amazed by it, he purchased it on the spot and had it shipped to his shop. the bentley and SL both are 660+hp. so if you're ever in the gangnam/seoul area, i'd love to introduce you to them and show you some of their cars. i hope to be working there in the next couple weeks/or month

I just arrived in Korea, on the 12th. I bought my EVO 8 a month ago and blew my reenlistment on my car and now I'm here in ROK. I would give my left nut to have my car here with me in Korea. I will be at Camp Humpreys. I was told that because I'm not a SFC I couldn't have my car here.

I have a ? for all you Korea vets. If I pay to get my EVO here can I do that? Does the Army only pay for E-7 and above, and are E-7 and above the only ones allowed to drive here. I have seen some lower enlisted member driving honda integras and civic si-r's all the time here in Yongsan.

You have to be either an E-7 or above, an officer, or command sponsored. If you pay to get it shipped, you still won't be able to drive it because you won't be able to get plates or the USFK sticker in the window. Without that sticker, it won't get on base - and plus you will have to pay taxes on it to the Korean government because it will not be considered SOFA status.
