VR4 into GSR Conversion
VR4 into GSR Conversion
I have just purchased a
Lancer GSR (luv it!) with a blown motor.
I was considering the engine swap for a 4G63 out of a Galant VR4 or EVO I-III for strength purposes. If anybody has any info on just the dropping in of the engine (wiring/computer info not needed) it would be much appreciated.
Can I still use my box?
Are the mounts the same, if not which ones, do I use the Galant's or the Lancer's?
Also has anyone got one 4 sale?

yeah try the gsr_evo list, talk to wes macdonald (ivg63, red gsr in next issue of speed, 11.6 1/4 worked on by buzzengines.com) he has done it with modes of what works and what doesnt etc..hope it helps
What year GSR? I'm desparately seeking a transversely mounted 4g93T (or any DOHC 4g93 variant really). If you have one and are going through with the swap, think we could talk business?
unfortunately my lancer is gone just recently, but i think wes might have or be able to get hold of a 4g93 easily enough, i can ask him and post back if you like, soon though i will have another gsr, if you havnt gotten a 1.8 by then maybe we can work something out
as for 2ltr engine, the engine mount that bolts on near front of cams is the only one that has to be modified as far as i am aware, with no major dramas, gsr g'box bolts up to the 2ltr shouldnt be a drama as wes's is gsr g'box and i have just finished building it back up as 5th and reverse teeth were slightly buggered as it would jump out of reverse. will you be running after market ems or standard vr4/evo computer??
hope it helps

I believe that's the one. It's got the tranny on the right side when you're facing the engine compartment. Cams on the left. Sorry to sorta hijack, just lookin' to pick up scraps.
EDIT: This'n

He's in NZ though. Thought it was AU but apparently my memory's fading. I've had such a pain in the *** time trying to find out if there were any other cars this engine has been available in.

Sorry to hi-jack this yet again....
Hobie: I have a quote for that engine +AWD tranny from an Aussie shop some time ago. I will pm you some info. Obviously, you don't need the AWD, but some useful info....
