is it worth getting?
is this car worth the money?
i got an offer to buy a 2000 lancer glxi for $7000.mods are exhaust and pod, windows, sports wheel gear nob pedals, terrably skuffed mags, spoiler and aftermarket tail lights. its 1.8l and stock. a 4 door also. has 190,000km on the clock. i been told it would be rather slow, not a performance and not worth the money being asked. altho engine is running fine and car condition is next to exelant. is it worth the money or what should i offer? its gotta be better than my current 1990 lancer but i would hav to get a loan.

You need to take into consideration who has owned it if it was a young guy then the engine would of lived hard but that is not to say that it is not in bad condition - do the usual checks oil condition if it is really dark then oil changes have not been made as frequently as they could of been... also compare it to other cars of the same make and etras and see how it compares in value Auto trader is great to chrck out a variety of cars and costs...
If the engine does give in then they are reasonably cheap to pick up and drop into car
just make sure it is 5 speed and they can be made to go fast mine did

redbook says.....
2000 MITSUBISHI LANCER
CE2 GLXi Sedan 4dr Man 5sp 1.8i
Prices based on km 90,000 - 150,000
Trade in price guide* $7,900 - $9,300
National average price - private sale* $10,100 - $12,800
Price when new (RRP) $22,490
So $7k is prob about right given 190k km on clock.
I would think its going to be a line ball call though.....a bit more could prob get a much better car!!
