New Lancer
New Lancer
Not sure if it has been posted before but here is a review on the new Lancer. http://carpoint.ninemsn.com.au/revie...ry.asp?ID=5262
Here is a few things that caught my eye.
- Despite the bigger 2.0-litre engine replacing the 1.8 when the CG was launched last year, it only offers similar levels of power as its 1.8-litre rivals. Maximum outputs are 92kW at 5500rpm with a peak torque of 173Nm at 4250rpm. The four-cylinder engine is an older unit and uses only a single camshaft
- Only the VR-X gets a bigger set with 195/50 rubber wrapped around a 16-inch alloy rim. All spares are now full sized wheels
- Clear lights
- The Lancer remains one of the few cars in the class to still use drum brakes on the rear - only the VR-X gets discs all round - with ABS with electronic brake force distribution (EBD) available as a $1000 option on all cars except Exceed where it is standard fitment.
Cheers

The nu VRX makes me feel ripped-off! It gets all the goodies, while my 2000 model is just a GLi with black interior, white guages (they threw in a tacho... YAY!), side skirts/spoiler, and CRAPPY 14" alloys! Supposedly a limited edition too... but limited to what? How many they could sell? There are like 7-8 in Gladstone alone... out of a total of like 50 CE Lancers!
DAMMIT! I'm gonna go but a VRX Magna now... at least from 2001 on, they DO have all the good ****!

:Mitsu: Yes it did go from CE to CG.....just like it went from CC to CE. From what I understand this is happens due to restyling that may occur. For example the new CH Lancer is just a restyled CG and basicially the same car but enough changes to warrant a new name. Sorry if that does not make a lot of sence, but that is my understanding of it.
I think it will affect the CG's value quite a bit, especially the VR-X since this new one has 16 inch alloys and discs all round and altezza taillights. The CG VR-X doesn't even have a lid for the center console! Talk about cheapskates! I saw brand new VR-Xs being advertised for around $21000 driveaway including ABS a couple of months ago.
I got my VR-X at the end of January so I'm also a bit annoyed, especially since they now come with full size spares as well compared to my crappy space saver.

Hey Sandman the CE VRX was limited to 500 sedans, 500 coupes and 500 Mirage's.
