Legal Ride Height?
Legal Ride Height?
I recently lowered my ride with King Springs Super Low all round and got told that legal ride height is 10cm. Although the body doesn't look very low, the chassis is. I can only just fit a 10cm cup under the car but I do hit two things. There are the resonator for the exhuast and that black bash plate thing (cross member I think it is called) that is under the driveline up front with the engine mounts on. So does that make my car illegal?

I've got mine on Super Low Kings too. I've been pulled up a couple of times and had ride height tested - every time I have passed.
Cops can however test you on any part of the car except side skirts, so you might want to look at changing you exhaust setup coz that is usually one of the first places they check.....

The resonator is the only part of the exhuast setup that is to low. Everything else is fine. Am I going to have to get a new exhuast now or are they able to raise the exhuast?
And is that black brace thing up front fine? Becuase it is like 8.5cm from the ground.

in NSW, if ANY part of the car, including skirts will hit a 100mm object being pushed under it, it's defectable.

The S2000, I'd have to slow down to give the springs time to react, but the Excel, I'd have to actually hit the speedhumps diagonally to avoid scrapes.

Alan, round here u got to be very unlucky to get dun for too low... in a Lancer anyhow... Tubby got done in his 180, but that was primarily for the exhaust being to loud... while pulling out of the Transport Department after renewing his licence.
If I were u, I'd just drive sensibly & avoid drawing attention from the PIGS (read not doing 140km+ wasn't it?) If u do get caught out, THEN worry bout it. 70% of the lowered cars round here would be TOO low.

The little pamphlet says 'the road clearance of a motor car must not be less than 100mm measured at any part of the vehicle other than the wheel rim or brake backing plates (This does not apply where a lesser clearance has been specified by the manufacture)
