Help with car
Hey everyone, I'm a newbie here so please go easy on me, hehe.
I have a 2000 Lancer (yellow) with Evo 5 front and sides and evo 6 wing.
I want to make some more mods but would like some help from people better suited to answering my Q's!
1. I would like some wheels. Thinking 17 inch. What colour would best suit a yellow lancer and how low should I lower it?
2. Does anyone know the price on getting a turbo for my engine and if it would void my insurance? (RAC insured)
3. Should I go for an interior colour scheme that is yellow? (Sport seats, steering wheel, gear knob, etc).
4. Where can I go about getting rallyart stickers from? Do they also supply rallyart seats, steering wheels, ect).
5. Any other suggestions as to what I could do? Seriously any help would be great as im hoping to make her look pretty spiffy.

1) 17inch will fit easy but check with ur insurance company before u do anything. White rims would probably look nice on it but the choice is up to u. The insurance will probably say that u can't lower it but if you want to lower it there is alot of ways of doing it. One very wrong way is to cut the standard springs. You have to be a ******** to do that. How much do you want to lower it? I got mine lowered with King Springs and they have two different lengths. 20mm-30mm or 50mm-60mm which are approx. $130 a set of 2.
2) Is it a 1.5L or 1.8L?
3) Up to you. Does your steering wheel have three spokes? If so, than you have airbags and it would be illegal to remove the airbags to add a sports wheel.

5) Have u done any engine mods?
Cheers

And where are you situated ? knowing where most of you guys come from helps heaps !!! heh, on the lighter note, RAC, if you let them know every detail, will pass a turbo kit, as RAC here in WA would've although my insurance would've gone up from 600 bucks back upto a grand a year.. which isn't too bad, as thats what i started out with

1. Yeah I will go with 17’s because I think they are the higest (legal) wheel I can go. I will get some new springs to lower the car, I don’t want to go too stupid with lowering the car (The roads down here aren’t the best).
2. It’s actually a 2.0L. The dealer called it a “special edition” with the colour and engine being fairly unique for that model.
3. Unfortunately it does have an airbag in it. So that does mean it’s illegal to cancel that with a sports steering wheel? Bugger man. Do you know if I’m able to atleast update the three spoke steering wheel to something a little more flashy?
4. Sweet, thanks mate.
5. I haven’t done any engine mods yet.
I’m situated in Tassie if that helps Pete.
Cheers for all your help too, these board things are great!!

1) Up here (QLD) the rules on the rim/tyre change is you can go as big as you like with the rim but the overall diameter of the tyre must not vary by more than +15mm or -26mm. Go into your local transport and they should have a booklet with all this info.
2) 2.0L ? Never knew a 2.0L came out in a CE. It is a CE model? I only guessed because of the EVO 5 kit.
3) Yes, it is illegal. You can buy Momo wheels that can still use airbags but I have been told they retail around the $1000 mark
5) If it is the 2.0L SOHC (4G94) than click here to have a look at some engine mods for that engine.
Cheers

They are a very populer rims over here with the Astra/Hyundai people over here, but didn't really catch on as much with the Lancer crowd..

A fully custom turbo kit usually costs around $7000-10,000 (But usually towards the $7k mark for single turbo 4 cylinder engines). However, since there are already 2.0L Turbo Lancers (Real Evos) you might be better off getting an engine transplant, or if the engines are similar, you might just be able to use parts like manifolds, upgraded fuel pumps and injectors etc from a 4G63 (2.0L) or 4G93 (1.8L) in your engine.
I'll be down in Tassie mid to late January with the Evo 6. Be nice to take it for some cruises around scenic areas. Tear up the countryside and all that. (kidding)
Hey, thanks for your replies so far. That's some really cool advice.
I'm hoping to get the interior of my car airbrushed with the same yellow as the exterior.
Getting the engine completely upgraded sounds the way to go, thats a bit of cash I need to save up for then.
