13 Sec Lancer GSR, How to...

Hi,

What sort of mods would you recommend to get my GSR to mid 13sec on the quarter? Would really like to get the 0-100k speed to under 6secs too.

Also with a td03 (i think thats what it is) from an evo... will that fit straight on to the gSR?

Thanks.

Stu

I believe the Evos always used TD05s, even from day one. So I'm not sure that it came out of an Evo. If it did, for it to fit, you'd need a special manifold, and the turbo itself would need to be pretty old - from the Evo 4 onwards, the turbo rotated the other way. (I bet you a left hander designed that turbo!)

Also, the turbos on the Evo are twin scroll - that is, it has two exhaust sides. You will need a special manifold/flange for that.

Honestly, if you want 13s quarters, and you have a bit more money to burn, I feel you would be better getting something like a HKS 3035 ceramic ball bearing or maybe something a touch smaller (2530?) and a a custom manifold to fit it.

Power port and ceramic coat both, (to reduce the lag from having a bigger turbo) and then upgrade your fuel and tuning system to accomodate the extra boost, and crank up the boost to a bar or so. That will get you into the 13s.

Keep in mind I could be wrong about where the Turbo came from. I only know about the Evo 6s onwards.

You are right. All the Evo turbos are TD05's. Although of course they vary in the later models as far as what they are made of etc - ie titanium.
