Does anyone know if one exists? Or should we look at starting one.

Hey namllo,
just a question about your Evo5 bonnet...
any problems with rain/water getting through onto your engine??
Do you have an engine cover?

Courious coz I'm getting one in a couple of months and I want to know the pro's and con's.

Thanks.

PS. great idea - to start an Aus Lancer club....there's enough out there to make a good 'community'.

My EVO bonnet has a cover underneath to protect any water getting on to the engine, not that it'd make much difference I'd imagine. A friend of mine has the same bonnet with no cover and she hasn't complained about it. Thinking about it though, how much water would get in when the car is in motion..not much you'd think.

Still for what they do to the car in looks it's definitely worth the money!!

Who's interested in participating in a show and shine day or a ride day either in Canbera or Sydney?

Hello to you all.

I just signed up to the forum today and realised that you too are asking the same Lancer Club question which I asked almost 3 months ago. Well here is the good news, there IS a lancer club in Australia and it's growing... in fact hoping to expand to a National Club.

Mitsubishi GSR/EVO Club Inc. has been established for 3 months now and is growing at a surprisingly good rate. The Club has 14 sponsors and can get discounts from tyres, to engine oil, engine rebuild, importing, interior accessories, crash repair, security, audio, etc, etc... everything you can possibly think for for your car.

What's more, we are CAMS insured and registered. We can hold events like track days, dyno days, skid pan days, motorkanas, 1/4 mile, etc, etc. Since we are insured and registered, very little police hassel and thus much happier motoring!

At the moment we are in Adelaide, but we are looking to expand to other states. If anyone is interested in joining our existing structure, welcome. If you are keen to start a branch in your own state, even better.

Anthony.

Hiya Anthony,

Had a browse through your club-site. Looking good so far!

A few points/questions:
I think most of the people here are looking for a club that concentrates on the "normal" Lancers.
I'm guessing your club takes the same format as this USA forum we're currently on - the Evo as the main attraction, while the Lancers are coming in second.
(Not complaining or whingeing - just stating it in a way to show what I'm trying to say).
Would all the services, discounts, etc your club has to offer be valid for non-Evo/GSR lancers?

I know I'm being really picky here, but the type of club I'm looking for has to wholly concentrate on the normal Lancers - the way this USA forum used to be like.
I just want to find a club where we can say "This is our Lancer club", not "This is our Lancer group under the Evo Club". Ya know what I'm sayin.

However, needless to say, I'll still be registering with your club-site coz I love all Lancers/Evos/GSRs

Ah well, just my 2c.

Cheers.
Al.

Hello Evo_Clone,

Don't worry about yours not being a EVO or GSR. Put it this way, 60% of the members in the club don't have an EVO or GSR. Most members are normal Lancers doing up their cars. That's the best time to join a club. Why spend all the money and pay retail doing up your car then join a club and discover that you could have done your conversions and upgrades with Club Price!!!

Plus we do have other non-Lancers in the club. Things like VR4, FTO and Codia makes up a good percentage of the club also.

Basically we welcome everyone and we really are about getting discounts, doing track days and making friends.

By the way, it's cool to just go on cruises with a local club, but if they are not registered or insured, then if you have an accident, your insurance MAY NOT pay for your damange, worse if you injure someone!!! The reason being that they consider a "cruise" with a club is a "motor sporting" activity, because you would not normally travel in that environment. So just be very aware of cruising in a non-registered and non-insured club!!!

Regards,
Anthony.

ps. all discounts are for members only. And the discount is for all makes and models. Mazda, Toyota, Nissan, etc..... as long as you are a memeber, you get discounts.

Cool!
Now I see where you're coming from.
Thanks for clearing that up for me.
