Proton Gti engine mods

Hi guys,

Bought myself a proton gti last year (brand new) and what sone helpfull hints on a turbo conversion. I hear talk of what "can" be done but I would love to know what has "actually been done". So far I have heard to 2 conversions that I am interested in:

1/ 4G93-T conversion (not sure what car has this engine)

2/ Turbocharge existing engine using manifold, turbo and intercooler of a gsr donor engine.

I have only started on this pursuit so would really like some honest input. I am having diffculty believing that turbocharging the existing engine is as easy and as just putting the manifold and turbo (plus usual stuff) on because why arent more gti owners doing it?

The proton is basically brand new. With only 10000kms on her in 9 months I am not after a trial and error modification. The aim is to have a stock sleeper. I am not wanting to draw attention to myself with front mounts, poofy vavles or loud exhausts. For those few seconds every day when a doodle in a v8 gets beside you at the lights, I want to strip him of his ego!!!

Get my point guys.

I appreciate any help and leads you can assist me with

well a 4g93t engine conversion is good but i mean you already have a 4g93 so why would you convert evrything??? a4g93 t is the motor out of a gsr. if you do decide you want to do the conversion.... i have a a exhaust manafold and turbo (lines etc) off a gsr that is forsale.... all you would need to buy is a intercooler and comuter the rest is clockwork. but yer its up 2 you.

just remember tho the compression ratio for an n/a car is different to that off a turbo car so altho it maybe the same engine its not realli built for turbo usage so u mite wanna try get sum internal work done if u dun want the boost to eat away at ur engines life...

if you change the gaskets (get a gsr gasket kit) you shoudl be sweet for compression. but ask around first there are heaps of guys who have done it.... ask some of the gticlub guys they would know it back to front by now.

yeh most likely came off a vr4 ... alot cheaper n easier to come by its taken me 3 mnths to find my evo 3 engine so yeh most likely a vr4 engine with worked internals and prolli bigger turbo
but thats just my guess
