Roadworthy?
Roadworthy?
I've heard that cutting into my Parcel Shelf will make my car unroadworthy?
There was a sale at JB and I got Some Audioline 7x10's for $47, reduced from $119 (60% off
) and need to cut some holes so they fit in my 95 Coupe.
I dont really have a lot of room for those Speaker Riser things between the shelf and the back window because of the window angle...
Are there roadworthy issues? If there are will it really make a difference?

Yeah it is illegal to modify or cut your chassis, umm i could just fit 6x9's in the back of my lancer CC, man that was one annoying and tough job.
Had the same prob as you with the window getting in the way.
But they fit nicely and sound awesome!

Yeah, it is illegal to cut.... i personally think fitting 6.5inch splits and a smallich sub woud be a better option for a nicer sound.. or you could go all out like mine, and have a pair of splits in the front doors, and a 10inch sub in the boot.. i get a nicer sound like that, and my sub is easily removeable for track day ( unlike my old setup).
Alright, I looked around some more and talked to some people.
I will need to get an engineer's certificate from Some Vicroads Accredited Place saying that my car is still structurally sound.
Anyone know how much something like that would cost? Its a pretty simple job right?

thats in WA, every states is different.
Lets just hope that "Different" means "Cheaper" in Victoria. So many people have told me that it doesnt really matter... even the guy at the Mechanics told me that chances are I would get done for it unless I was being a real ******* and he decided to go over my car witha fine tooth comb. As long as I cut them neat and make it look professional I should be fine.
Is there a fine or anything if I do get caught? Or is it just that I cant drive it until I get a certificate?
Also, If I get JB to install them at their installation centre (there is one really close to my place)... does anyone know the price of something like that? If I want it done neatly... I dont trust myself
