Question Help Needed Newbie

Hi guys

Just bought me a 2002 lancer coupe 1.8 gli a couple of weeks ago. Ill be honest to say i dont know much about cars. I would like to ask about exhaust sytems and extrators. Originally i was going to get it turboed next year so i thought about getting a 3 inch system all the way through with a 5 inch tip. Then i was quoted between $3,500 to $7,000 to have it turboed (does that sound right). So now im thinking of getting a 2 1/4 inch system all the way through with extractors for around $500. How much power will i gain? Im in the hunter valley area and have been priced this amount at moore mufflers at broadmeadow does it sound alright?
Next step will be the bodykit i am keen for suggestions there to or if any one could put me onto any reputable workshops i would be thankfull.

Thanks for any help

If your ultimate goal is to turbocharge you car. I would suggest you not to change you extractor (exhaust manifold/header) for now, since you won't be able to incorporate that into the turbo system.

On the other hand, a 2.25" exhaust system will not do you much good at this point. You will even lose back-pressure and that causes the lost-power at low rpm range.

Just save some $$ up and concentrate on improving other areas (suspension, brakes) before the turbo upgrade Just my opinion

Assuming youare based in Australia, RPW has there race design extractors released for the car now along with the rampod air cleaners, and our own turbo kits.

Yes it would cost approx $7500.00 to turbocharge the 2.0 lancer properly with piggu back computer etc.

Go for a 2 1/2" system not 2 1/4" as you have a nice big motor to work with.

For more info check our website out.

He has a 1.8Ltr Engine and it is the coupe, not the 2Ltr in the Cedia 4 door range

With a 2" system you will not get any power loss, it would be a gain. The loss in back pressure will result in loss of power, but a 2" system will not reduce back presure
