Finally getting around to doing my clutch..

Okay, so the 'box is dropped, the new PBR clutch is sitting on the dining table, and i'm waiting for the flywheel and brakes to get back from machining..

With not much mechanical expertise ( i've only done a few RWD ones with the help of mates and thing sliek that) i dropped the whole box and got the brakes off and flywheel off, oil and 'box fluid out in under 3 and half hours.. thats using the car on jackstands, and guessing using a hopeless $40 workshop manual.. I'll let you guys know how it feels on wednesday when shes all back together

Pete.

Okay, everything is back together ! And i must say, impressed with the PBR clutch.. very tight, very sticky.. it's either in or out, and it just grabs..

I used the Castrol 80w90 oil for the tranny case, and atm it feels really tight, but i have been told it'll settle itself out, after that should be great !

Time wise, took me 7.5 hours by myself, no help, with the car on jackstands, and only a trolley jack and 2 bricks to hold tihngs up or down.. didn't even have the clutch aligning tool, did it all by feel..

Apart from that, shes needs a good degrease, and it'll be perfect !!

I'll drop you on in the easiest way to do this..

1. take rims off
2. pop ball joints out and undo the cv boots and pulls cv's out.
3. take starter motor out.
4. undo cross member that goes under the box ( most cruicial won't go back in after), take exuast off from manifold to cat convertor ( or test pipe)
5. undo all the bolts around the box
6. pop tranny mount on tranny side out, take hinge off
7. wiggle box out with a rope holding back of box up a little.

easy.. then just reverse..

did you install it yourself ? or did you have someone else do it ?

Have you found the box hard to change atm ?
