What's causing this?

Well I've had a problem pop up recently in my '93 CC GL, it's got the 1.5 carb 4G15. What happens is I'm just accelerating normally and it will just sputter and jerk the car back and forward (like bunnyhopping). I thought it might be the plugs so I changed those about 2 weeks ago, but it still happens.

The only thing I can think of is a problem with the fuel system. I *think* it might only happen when I get dirty fuel (I nearly ran the tank dry the other day and it's happened since then). Could that be the problem?

Any suggestions appreciated!

Try changing the fuel filter.....or getting the carby cleaned.

I thought it might be the fuel filter, I bought a new one but the old one seemed really clean so i didn't bother swapping it over.

Carby seems like a probable cause, I have some carby cleaner so I might try that tomorrow.

I was kind of hoping it wasn't a carby problem because they're a ***** to service, but I drive the car like I stole it daily, and wouldn't suprise me if the carb is packing it in.

What are my options about replace/servicing the carb? I don't have alot of money atm though

if your carbz is f**ked dont even bother reapairing it... just make an adaptor plate and fit on it an old XD falcon carby... more power and cheaper

hey yah i had the same probem, first i thought its the plug cables, then the carbi, then the fuel. Nup its your thermometer thats on your intake manifold (the pipes straight under the carbi). You should see two spark plug like thingies on the intake manifold with cables or tubes going to them. GET THEM REPLACED! I got fairly new ones from a wrecker engine (never used apparently) for 40 bucks, swapped them with mine and whoala problem fixed.

how hard are they to work on! I got a set from the wreckers and swapped them over, but I don't think I screwed them down all the way, see how it goes anyway

Odium2004 Feb 25, 2004 10:58 PM

Let us know how it goes. :)

What exactally do they do?

pubsquash Feb 27, 2004 08:48 PM

So Eze how did you go with the new parts, did they fix the problem?

-=Bump=-

I'm having a similar problem, did it work when you swapped them over Eze?
