Hello AMS crew, simple question..
I installed the EVO specific HKS SSQ BOV this afternoon. Followed the instructions to the t and after I was done I went out for a test drive.
I've heard a lot of stories about 05 EVO's running fine on VTA BOV's and mine sure does seem to run like normal. No stalling, no stumbling, etc. even the shifting is fine at highway speeds.
Overall the BOV sounds sweet. my 3" TBE is as quiet as stock even at WOT, so i guess I could say my BOV is the loudest thing on the car now besides the radio.
Anyhow I encountered a problem tonight. The 35mm silver plate that comes in the HKS BOV kit somehow popped off which caused the car to run like crap. At WOT I hear the turbo spooling really loud but the car doesnt really accelerate.
My theory for this is that the turbo is taking in air thru the MAF/Intake, plus air thru the hole on the intake tuning where the stock BOV empties into, so its getting more air than the MAF thinks, causing the car to run crappy...
overall has this ever happened to you guys?
I will put that block off plate back on later when the engine cools, and tighten the clamps as much as I could and hope it doesnt pop off again.
