AMS GT42 question?

Since everyone seems to be jumping on the GT42R bandwagon. I was hoping that someone from AMS cough cough (Eric) would tell the bandwagoners what RPM the AMS car sees full boost.

I know Marco, owner of Magnus Motorsports, saw full boost at 6K on a 2.0. Any input from the AMS guys?

Here is some info:

With our header we see full boost around 5.2-5.5K rpm on our 2.0L on the 2.3 I'm guessing full boost will hit hard around 4.6-4.8k RPM

What Size Turbine Housing are you using? Did you test both of them out to see which yielded better results?

We've been using the 1.01 so far and it's backpressure is really low, not much to improve on. I have a larger one sitting here but it's much bigger and I think it will be too laggy. We'll know soon enough.

What do you guys consider "full-boost?" Are we talking your normal 40 psi pull on C-16 ? What kind of power have you guys seen out of this puppy on pump gas ? What kind of boost pressures would you recommend on pump gas ?

I was under the impression that the new GT series turbos are made more for high boost applications than their counterparts. If you were to have 2 evos race, one with stock turbo and all bolt-ons and one with all bolt-ons but stock motor with the 42r, what kind of outcome would you expect in a quarter mile ? What about daily drivability with such a monster ?

Too many variables there, but a 42R will be terribly laggy on the street on pump, you will hate it. I want to see a log because they have supras running 42R's and they are not seeing full boost until 5000-5200rpms and they have 30% more displacement. I do not see a 2.0 hitting full boost at 5.2K now way in hell.

Why in the heck would you want that big laggy *** turbo for the street. That makes absoulutely no sense. A street car needs a "WIDE" power band. Get something that is quick to spool and pulls hard to redline.

I think guys are also forgetting the fact that you will lose boost in between shifts while drag racing unless you have a no-lift-to-shift setup with whatever engine management your using. I had a FP Red (60-1) on my GSX and I used to lose boost in the shifts, I would shift at redline and in the next gear I was spooling up again instead of the boost being right back at full, it was very nocticable compared to the quick spool of the L2R I had on it before that.
