Questions about my flash..

I just had my car flash by you guys about a week ago and I had some questions about my car.

2003 white evo AMS stage 3/ water injector kit

1. My friends had notice flames shoot out of my exhaust is that normal with my set up? Of couse this is when I'm at full throttle.

2. Gunning it in 5th gear on the highway, i notice my Forge BOV seems to be going off rapidly, when this happends the boost gauge shows a reading of around 30 psi. and the boost needle bouces up and down. I dont think this is normal, i think it might have to do with my forge BOV, but I was wondering what you guy think about this? Do i have to get another BOV, wastegate??

3. The next question I had was about the methanol tank. When I went to fill up the tank to the top, I've noticed the methanol was spilling from under my car. (not good) Is there a leak in my tank, or is there a system that lets the methanol out if I fill it up too high? How high can I fill the tank up?

4. Lastly my check engine sign went up, I think it had to do with my exhaust but, is there away to clear that sign, with my ecu flash?

I know you guys are very busy, and I was hoping if you guys can take the time to help answer these question. Sorry to keep bothering you guys.

Keep up the great work.

Thanks again in advanced

1. I think the flame is normal. Mine shot out a fire ball when on the dyno. My friend's Srt-4 does the same with his meth. kit too.

3. If you fill the tank to high, it will overflow. There is a line on the inside of the tank. If it's leaking from the bottom of the tank, make sure your brass fittings are tight.

I'll let AMS chime in on the rest of your questions.

The overflow is normal.

I would like to know what the CEL code is

The flame is perfectly normal

As for the Bov, its compressor surge. Forge makes an upgraded piston for there BOV's now. I would either run that or slap on a greddy type RS. I like that valve alot

thanks eric, so if I end up swapping out the BOV to the greddy type RS will this solve my problem with the highway runs?

1. You are probably seeing flames when you shift or let off the gas right? you do have a test pipe I believe, it is normal.
2. Might be compressor surge. 30psi at low rpm (5th gear) might run the into the surge line on the compressor wheel. Does it only do it in 5th gear at low rpm?
3. The stock IC spray tank has a fill line and a little tube near the top that will drain any overflow. Look closely and you'll see it.
4. If you have a test pipe it will set off a CEL, if not then drop by and I'll pull the code.

Regards,

Martin

sweet thanks martin for all your help. I think it has to do with the turbo back exhaust. If you can remove that cell that would be great. Maybe I'll stop by something this week. If thats ok with you?

oh btw the thing about the BOV it happens only when I'm only in fith and I'm gunning it. I doesnt happen in low rpms, it happens once my boost starts peaking. Thats when the boost start acting crazy.

I think its cause I have a forge BOV that cant handle too much boost.
So im probably gonna take erics advice and swap out to a greed type rs BOV.

Thanks again guys

I had the Forge DV on my 03, and it was rated to hold boost solid up to 24psi. Dunno if you have the same or are running more than that or what. Might be worth searching the exact type before upgrading like Eric stated.

Btw, you can buy CEL pullers at autozone and stuff if you like. A lot of locations will pull the code for you for free. Dunno how close AMS is too ya. Don't clear it w/o finding out what it is though!!!

Second the Greddy RS valve, if you want to hear how it sounds/performs, check out the incar from Road atlanta (https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=190724).

if its only in 5th then its most likely compressor surge and the BOV wont really make it go away. Try downshifting and then making your pass and you will see that it does happen nearly as bad.

I was driving my car last night and I noticed the BOV thing happens in forth gear too. Does this mean changing the BOV will help my car fun smoothly?
