AMS 3" TBE or Catback?

I'm looking to do some bolt-on upgrades to get my engine breathing better and wanted some peoples opinion. I already plan on getting the cone filter, EBC (greddy) and a reflash/tune. I'm just trying to decide on which exhaust to go with.

Obviously i would want the TBE for the power output, but i don't want a loud exhaust. I used to run a 2.5" straight exhaust w/ high flow cat and no resonator on my Integra but that was just too loud. I'm looking for something that will be not much louder than stock (at high and low RPM's).

If i decide to go with the catback exhaust will there be a large difference in power/sound from either the stock exhaust or with the TBE? Also, how will a high-flow cat affect power/sound?

Just wanted to hear from some people who have had either or has experience with the AMS exhausts. Thanks for your help!

I just don't want it to be real loud. I don't want to draw any more attention and I like the sleeper sound. Either way I'm going with an AMS piece. I have to give them a call when i get a chance to see when they could get me in.

Go AMS TBE. The sound is crazy and the gains are mind blowing.
As far as being loud....i dont think its crazy loud...it has a very kewl dont f*** with me tone.
When I'm at full boost, my turbo sucking in all that air is louder than the sound of the exhaust.

My .2c

I had just the catback or about 8 months then got the downpipe. Car sounds about the same but the gains are amazing. I have heard mine in comparison to many and I don't thiknk there's any competition. Everyone wh ohas ever heard it has given compliments. Check my posted threads to hear clips of the exhaust.

Allright, I think I have made up my decision. I think I'm going to go with the downpipe, Hi-flow Cat, Resonator and cat back. This combo will give me the sufficient power without a real loud sound.

Well worth the purchase

Just purchased, recieved and installed my TBE with resonator pipe from AMS (Eric). Fitment on my '05 Evo MR is perfect. You can feel the power gains from the stock exhaust - well worth the $1K price tag. I got the resonator pipe because I live in a conservative neighborhood, and I like the quieter more stealthier approach. Nothin' but good feedback from the AMS exhaust. The TBE would be the way to go if you don't mind the O2 sensor coming on.
