In Ivan we trust!
Geronimo racing and another starlet set the bar high with cars both running 8.90's for the number one and number two Qualifying position, It didnt look like Ivans 9.65 qualifying pass was going to cut the mustard......
Thats where consistency comes in!
In the second round of eliminations Ivan drew geronimo racing (#1 qualifier) and Ivan did what he does best....he beat him on the tree, ran a 9.40 and was the first to cross the beams. The difference in the win was his .3 second better reaction time. One more to go!
As expected the other 8.90 (#2 qualifier) bested his opponent in the second round (Gen of Y2K Motorsports) and put him self into the finals with Ivan.
The stage was set Ivan the terrible Vs The mighty 8 Sec starlet.
Ivan knew he had his work cut out for him. To date his best pass was a 9.22, still 3 tenths off of The starlets Qualifying time. Martin Cracked open the laptop downloaded some files and tweaked the AEM hoping to squeeze a little bit more out of Ivans 240.
After two impressive burnouts both cars rolled to the beams and staged up. The light droped and The black starlet jumped early and tripped a red light. Ivan meanwhile shot out of the hole like a canon lifting the front wheels off the ground about an inch, he stayed ahead of the starlet the entire way and put together his best pass to date 9.15 @ 157 MPH!!!! 1st place Finsiher in the Frantic 7!!!!!
A big congrats goes out to Ivan for putting together one hell of a show. He got consistently faster with each pass over the day in a car that had not yet been to the track in 07.
Here are some pictures, video coming soon!!!
Enjoy!

Thanks to everyone for the kind words. I am happy that I was able to represent AMS / Turbo240 and bring the win and record home.
I had a blast! It was the first time out this year with a slightly new setup. I took my time getting it up to speed and can tell you there is more left in the car. I am looking forward to getting it back to the track soon to concentrate on getting
The competition was tough. I felt like an underdog having one of the only street cars in the class. My full interior street car was surrounded by cars with one piece front ends, Lexan windows, Jericho clutchless transmission. back halved.... tubbed out...... gutted interior.... I was happy qualifying 3rd and expected to bumped out after the first round. Things went my way in the semis winning on reaction time running an identical 9.4 as Geronimo Racing's Starlet. In the finals, I won at the light when the Onix Starlet red-lighted. Despite that, my 9.1 run bested their 10.5 run and I took the win and hopefully gave the fans a good show. Everybody in the class parted ways shaking hands and looking forward to race 2 of the series at the end of May. It was a pleasure racing against top notch competitors.
Big thanks to everyone who helped. Scott for the awesome header. Chris and Martin for the spot on tune. Eric for getting up extra early to get the A-Team Van and trailer out to my place to pick up my car. Shaun for your help at the track and for taking vid. Rich, Arthur and Frank's friend for taking some awesome shots. Mike for loaning me a full nitrous bottle. Everyone else for the support and cheers.
