Question AMS Evo tuning

I am trying to figure out what path to go with upgrading my Evo. It sounds like the XEDE and e-Manage are the two available piggybacks that can adjust timing and fuel. Being in Minnesota, it seems like AMS is the nearest reputable tuner with DSM/Evo experience if I want a custom tune instead of a mail-order one-size-fits all from you-know-who, but it sounds like you guys only have a 2WD dyno.

If I wanted to start out with say some variant of the usual cat-back plus e-manage and some sort of boost control from you guys, how would these be tuned? Is it worth temporarily converting to FWD for one session of tuning with fairly "mild" mods?

Thanks, and please pardon my ignorance!

you can do e-manage for fuel/timing control if u'd like, or apexi s-afc, which i what they use the most.. it's up to u.. they'll tune it for you on their dyno (converting the evo to fwd is not that bad)..

ams also has their own manual boost controller that rox!

call them up.. they're good guys.. they'll set u up!

We can do a wideband O2 street tune that will work very well or convert your car to 2wd for the dyno. I've had very good luck with the greddy e-manage and I recommend it to anyone. Give us a call and we can discuss your upgrade path.

Thanks,

Martin

just get on 90 going north.. pass the tolls at o'hare/rosemont and then it's not that far.. get off on the elmhurst rd exit and make a left turn at the light (oakton) and then you will see the AMS sign on the right side about 500ft down oakton.. pull in and you'll see the storefront on the left (shop is in the back)..

they're not running a forge yet..

however, i'm running the blue spring in mine at the moment.. but i think i'll go down to the green spring, since i'm not running that much boost yet.. the valve sort of flutters right now.. the green spring is the optimal spring for a 15-22psi setup..

my guess is that the blue spring won't be needed til you run about 25psi, and the red spring probably won't be needed til around 30..

The same intercooler is on our EVO II that is putting down about 650whp (over 700crank hp). The core will be more than enough even for the biggest HP freaks. Since going to the track last time, we've improved from 113.5mph to 116.5mph with the IC upgrade, and our AMS cams (going from HKS 272's).
