Tuning Question for AMS
i live in Chicago and i'm pretty close to you guys!
I own a Mitsu 3G GS and i am turboing it. here are the parts that will be installed.
- EVO 8 Stock Turbo
- Forge Adjustable Actuator (9-15psi)
- Megan racing manifold and O2 housing
- Evo 8 stock dp
- Walbro 255
- Begi FPR
- 440cc WRX (non STI) injectors
- Evo 8 LICP and custom UICP with BOV (still TBD)
- Greddy EVO 2 CB (2.5")
- NGK spark plugs 2 range colder than stock
- AEM Uego WB
- AEM Tru Boost
- Autometer EGT
My question is which is the best route for you guys to tune this setup since I will come there to have it pro tune.
Since the car is Sporty and not manual, the evo rom cannot flashed on my ecu and consequently the over 100% load in the map needs to be fixed with a piggyback.
I have an Emanage Blue and the GM MAF with the MAF Translator. Would it be better go with the MAF T Pro?
Let me know your thoughts so that by the time it gets warmer and i have everything installed, i will have the tuning device bought.

Where is the starter located on the auto car? I know on the manual, its up pretty high and I doubt the Evo turbo would clear it.
Is it '01 and up that is ROM tunable? If it is, and I know the load cells are limited, but with a MAF Translator you may be able to get within a good area without a piggyback. I'm not too familiar with MafT Pro however.

the starter issue is solved using a angled spacer that tilt the turbo a little bit up

i will go with the MAF translator route and have the emanage installed to solve the over 100% load. the goal is running safely between 9-12 psi (i know it sounds really lame for u evo guys, but until a evo head or forged internals are installed, i dont wanna risk to blow the engine!!!)

yup... i cant flash the evo rom on my ecu since no auto evos were made... AEM EMS could work, but i wouldnt pass emission unless i run it with my ecu. and for the amount of boost im going to push (at least at the beginning) is not worth spending 2-3K for the EMS.

i know the JDM Evo VII GT-A came out auto. some ppl on the club3g.com forums have been working on trying to make it work with our sporty, but with no success... the car stalls after few secs as soon u shift in drive...
maybe later down the road (with a evo 8 head swap) i will need bigger injectors...
