Customized AMS plug cover

I got a used scuffed AMS cover here on the boards to try something new. I originally wanted to powder coat it wrinkle black & paint the logo silver, but that didn't work out. I sanded the cover & painted the logo black. Then I clear coated the whole thing so it will stay as is & not need any maintenance (polishing).

before

after sanding

finished

I dont have any pics of it installed because it's still wet, but I'll post some later. Hope you guys like it.

I loved the look of it wrinkle black, but I wanted the contrast. The silver logo didn't workout right so I had to strip it & go another direction. Here's a pic of the wrinkle black before I stripped it.

Nice work--have a question. Do you figure the clear is going to stand up to the heat?

Yes, it is an automotive clear coat. A quality clear coat will hold up to normal engine temps without any problems. Not sure about spray paint clear coats though.

Well for now you may be since it didn't work out the way I wanted & I stripped the wrinkle black powder coat off & painted it.

Thanks for all the nice comments. I'm still on the fence about keeping it like this. I really wanted a black cover with silver logo. I guess we'll see.
