Nissan is not preventing others from modding the car, BUT they are accrediting aftermarket parts. A few of them are already HKS, Mines and Power House Amuse, who had went all the way to where the GTRs were built in Japan just to study how the car was built, since it was built by hand.

Best thing AMS can do, and which they have the money to do it, is to fly all the way to Japan where the GTR was born.
Cobb Tuning has a True GTR that they have been working on. I was talking to some of the guys over there and they said that there is not much room for improvement. The car is controled mostly by computers. I guess thats why they call it a super car

quick little update for some of you guys...

Stock AMS GTR went 11.5 @ 121 with a 1.83 60ft

Car spins too much out of the whole. I didnt play with the tire pressure because I didnt have nitrogen to fill the car back up for when I left.

I think the GTR has an 11.4 in it

True. Even the Mines ECU alone has gave the GT-R an additional 30 to 40whp. The Cobb Tuning software and hardware is what we are now eyeing on, and yes, not much improvement is needed on the GT-R.

Using the launch control, the GT-R really makes 11.5 secs on the ave and 0 to 60mph in 3.5 secs

Can't wait to see what AMS does with the GTR, it's gonna be sick. Most of the JDM parts are way too expensive, hopefully AMS will be able to provide more affordable alternatives for the GTR market.
The reason why the JDM parts like Amuse, Mines and HKS are expensive is because of the amount of expenses in the R&D process. Remember that the GT-R is not like an Evo, it is a supercar, it is handbuilt only in one factory all over the world with Japanese pinpoint precision tuning and computer control. One small wrong measurement in the parts may mean a lot, and if AMS would come out with parts also, with the amount of research, testing, development, and maybe if they have to fly all the way to Japan just to research, I do not think it would be cheap too.
