AMS EVO X UICP changed...?

AMS, just curious to know why you changed the design of the UICP for the EVO X? It looks like you are using a tapered coupler now as opposed to a hardpipe near the turbo. Just curious to know the reason behind the change, thanks!

I was wondering the same thing. I've seen pics of a couple cars with this.

Yeah, my guess is that some people have experienced boost leaks from engine movement, typically on the top IC connection... so the silicone probably gives the piece more wiggle room. We'll wait to hear from AMS though.

That was one of the reasons, the larger coupler allows more engine movement and is less prone to boost leaks. The transition is also smoother rather than the step from the old coupler.

Another question related to the UICP is that from the pictures on the AMS website and the one I purchased from one of your vendors, it does not include a coupler that goes to the top of the intercooler. Is this correct.

So do you just re-use the factory one?

The only couplers I see are the one coupler going to the hardpipe near the turbo and the "hump" coupler attaching the two pipes together.

Thanks.

Yes that is correct you would re-use the stock intercooler coupler.
