Correct liner installation on 4b11?
Hello,
We're having a little debate on the MLR about the correct installation for 4b11 liners:

AMS have been quoted:
A few members and traders believe installing the liners proud of the block will stress the head and block and could cause problems.
I was hoping you could provide us with your feedback on this topic.
Many thanks in advance.

The new sleeves are machined to sit a few thousands above the rest of the deck surface allowing for a tighter sealing surface between the block and cylinder head

This is a quote from our engine builder here at AMS:
Yes this is correct that the liner is installed proud of the block deck. This is no different than having an o-ring proud of the deck or a gasket with a stopper ring built into it.
We have done this with all of the sleeved engines without failure or signs of fatigue to the block or head. I think our HP records, quarter mile records and road race records speak for the integrity of our motor program.
