That was a cool meet being the first one for us in vancouver. Thanks Kobe for setting it up.

Great to meet up with kobe, nitro604 (nice pics ) and insomniac_evo (dude, you talk like you are asleep ) haha.

Kobe: for the second meet, let start earlier dude... ending at 1:30am is late for old guys like me

Blaze_125: you are correct, that's my lancer. It's got an 18-pt custom cage built for rally racing. The cage is based on the WRC evo vii design. I've got zero flex in the frame of the lancer - it's stiffer than a teenager on viagra .

How much did it cost you to get that roll cage. I've always wondered how much it would cost to have a basic cage built for my car. It's nice to go fast, but going faster means that you also need more protection.

When they build roll cage, do you have the choice between hardcore and basic, or do they go hardcore all the way?

Because I mean, to be on the track or to be on the street, it's always good to have some sort of additional protection.

My cage alone would be around $5000 on the market. There was other work done to the car that's not included in that, such as labour for stripping interior, weight reduction, seam welding, sealing, reinforcement of strut towers, and the list goes on.

I design and build cages primarly for rallysport. I have been asked to build cages for Solo 1 and touring series racers, but the regulations are different between rally and track.

Cages are custom quoted and designed based on application, purpose, budget and practicality. Trust me, it's a ***** getting in and out of a car with a cage. Ask Kobe how long it takes for me just to strap myself into the car Also, the cage is dangerous as in a collision, unless you are really strapped in, your head can smack one of the bars - which really hurts.

Cages range from simple main hoop with belt bar up to complex road race or rally cages. Simple hoops would be around $250.

Out in Ontario, the cage experts would be 4-star motorsports. They have been around for awhile and know their stuff. Not sure what they charge.

You can email me at rallyken@shaw.ca if you have more questions.

Yes - the first one state side might be around end of April - kinda depends on funds and time.

The next one in Canada is in May in Alberta. There another one in BC in June. Then there's the big National Rally round in October. If you want more information about events - goto my club's website at www.rallybc.com.

If I am racing sometime soon - I'll be sure to post here and see who wants to come and watch the race and/or hang out in the pits .
