New ralliart owner

hey everyone. I just got my 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart on friday and i love it. I used to be heavy into suzuki swift GTis. the 1989-1994 ones. Had more than a few of them. 1.3L twin cam 16 valve little rice burner. a blast, but they are cheap and at their age, are all falling apart or rotten. So after putting another transmission in my most recent swift and having it pop out of gear, i decided to raise the bar. get the car I've wanted ever since it came out, and what do you know, i can afford it now. So here i am. I love this car. So smooth and quiet, and handles great. Handles better than my little hatch which had sways front and back and front lower and upper tie bars. Im so excited to start modding this thing a bit. Basically, the only two things im really interested in doing at this point are the engine damper and an evo style rear wing. I have some questions, i looked all over and am still unclear about the wing. I still dont know which one to get? like which one is the good one? I also cant find out where to get the RRM damper from...couldnt find it on their site.

RRM Does not make an engine damper that I am aware of. North Star Creations has one. Solid motor mounts from RRM is a better choice than a damper anyways. As for a wing, RRM and Accolade both make one, or you can find somebody selling their OEM EVO wing.

A few suggestions when you start modding

1. CAI or SRI
2. Underdrive Pulley
3. Piggyback ECU
4. Any of RRM's suspension parts.

Also, Check out the Ralliart General Forum for more info.

Hey, i read alot of the ralliart section today at work (lol, it was really really slow at times) so i just got confused wiht all the company names being abreviated and thrown into the mix. I have so much info about swifts in my head as tahts what im used to that nothing else makes sense to me. also, all the prices on this performance stuff seems so cheap. probably cuase i was always comparing the price of mods against the cost of the car they go on. a 160 dollar underbody brace on a 1000 dollar car is a pricey mod, while a 140 dollar engine damper on an expensive car is nothing. Also, im amazed at the availability of this stuff. As for intakes, udps, and piggybacks, im not gonna do anything like that until i actually own the car...plus, its quick enough....for now I just always wanted an engine damper for my swift, but there was never anything available for it really. I drove a friends car (nother swift) wiht that mod and it felt great. but i dont want to do the engine mounts as i want to avoid any added vibration through the car. Thanks fro the tip on mitsu car club too.

tips

hey,
I've been around these sites for a better part of a year now, here's some useful threads which will help you out.
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...89#post2977989

and for the dampner
http://www.ZakleeCorp.com

just happened to have the 1st one bookmarked and the second I saw the other day

Currently I've got an OZ but (today most likely) I'm thinking on trading it in on a new black 06 Ralliart....oooo baby.
They said they'd give me trade value = to exactly what I've got into the car so it's a no brainer (cuz I'm stock) the RA has more HP and 0km.
Plus it doesn't hurt to have $13cash in hand...
On point, I hope to join you in the RA club soon, gl with the mods

Crayz, seriously I'm from kelowna too and this is the first time I've been on this site. DON'T BUY BLACK! It looks sweet when you get it and like **** after 3 washes trust me (insideman). plan to spend alot on polishes. Lighter colors show no more dirt than others in the winter. In the summer you don't mind washing your car anyway. If you reply I might be able to help you out.

The mivec is an engine that you really don't want to mess with until warranty runs up. If you want very minor performance upgrades a cai or catback exhaust are acceptable. The underdrive pulley will void warranty in most cases. The Evo spoiler is only for looks and it looks good on an evo. Be sure to inquire about the high mount or third brakelight. Most aftermarket ones don't have it and it will fail inspections. I've seen one turbo'd and it frothed the engine oil and blew the Engine . Also keep in mind with the C.A.I. if you drive through a wet section of road or even get a touchless carwash with the chassis wash you can easily turn your mivec into a 2.4L water pump and it don't like that. Other mods, unless you can read the matrix in 0's&1's like nero an air fuel meter looks cool but really you don't want to piggyback an ho2s it lowers resistance and can cause a mil. it will also void your warranty on emissions. The marginal gains from diodes/resistors/capacitors installed in line with your maf, etc. are marginal . plus you may not actually get a gain at all. Engine damper will give you better launch but it'll transfer to the chassis. Those tie bars for the rear suspension are the biggest scam! They are placed in an area that doesn't need re-enforcement and once you install them you need an alignment. Performance is always a compromise between driveability and power and power: longevity . as far as the ralliart of this generation goes, be glad you got such a great all around car for a great price . If you wait 2,3 years you can get an evo and save your money in the mean time..............
