Is this possible?

I'm not sure how many of you have knowledge about this sorta thing, but i figured I'd give it a whirl...

So basically I've always wanted to own a EVO... I made my 03 Lancer OZ look like one and I dropped alot of cash in it(RRM Stage 2 turbo, whole nine)... Any who... in canada, evo's are not importable due to crash tests blah blah blah... theres 15 of em but there impossible to get and they dont have the differental control or sunroof.

I have 2 ppl i know in the states that could help me reg/insure it, but the problem is getting a drivers license... you cannot get a D/L in the states unless you have a work visa. You cannot get a visa unless you have a US company sponsor you. I tried applying places and no go. The companies I have seen that I MAY have a chance w/, They dont pay good enough for me to drop everything here, i would love to but honestly, not logical.

One of my moms best friends lives in California, and owns her own company, question i had, if she sponsors me, if i got a work visa, got a license, got the car, could I bring it up to Canada and still work up here? If she hired me as like a occasional computer tech or web designer(cause web designer, u dont actually have to be physically there)or something(I am currently building a site for her), would that work? Basically I jus wanna drive the car in Canada for the summer and store in the US in winter (and she can drive it in winter cause Socal doesnt get snow)

Im not here to steal n e americans jobs or n e thing, I'm actually trying to make someone some money by buying a car from them, paying the state money for reg/insuring a car. Im jus trying to have the car for my own personal benefit... no investment nothing.

PS, i dont like the Evo X so that is why im still focusing on the 03-06 Evo's

besides the fact its a evo, how would it be a hassle? Getting the license is ez, jus gotta get the visa, which takes time but i wont be doing this til May,2008. Im jus wondering if the idea is a possibility.

I'm not naming names, but i knew a guy who got his citizenship changed and bought a house and lost his job, and got one that pays way less, divorced his wife and lost his kids just cuz he wanted an evo.

I doubt this would work otherwise every person who did work for an american company could import a variety of cars not legal in this country. I would guess that you'd actually have to go down there, work there, and then prove that you need to be up here to do the work you are trying to do. You've been trying to get an evo for months/years now, just buy a damn STI already.

well...

it's possible, but not really worth it

http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/E/pub/cm/d2-4-1/d2-4-1-e.pdf

either it's allowed a maximum of 30 days(decided by customs)

or

it's brought up in case of an emergency and you have no other transport (decided by customs)

and in either case you may have to pay a deposit with a time frame. meaning it'll have to go back by a preset date(decided by customs) ... if you miss that you blow a couple grand

and that's every time... i bet they'll catch on after a few anyways

want an EVO 4? (race tuned; 100% street legal)

a guy's selling it for 19000 in toronto; price negotiable.

and the performance is based on EVO8 stuff.. maybe a good alternative?
